ECAC Announces Acrobatics & Tumbling Major Awards and All-Conference Team

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Acrobatics & Tumbling League has announced its yearly award recipients and all-conference honorees.
 
Quinnipiac University takes home a trio of 2019 major awards. Junior Camren Diaz was voted Player of the Year, Sophomore Cassidy Osher was voted Specialist of the Year and head coach MaryAnn Powers voted Coach of the Year. Claire Guittard of King University claims the honor of Rookie of the Year after a stellar rookie campaign.
 
The all-conference team is made up of 12-outstanding student-athletes voted on by the coaches.

Diaz finishes off her year with the award of ECAC Player of the Year. She was also named an NCATA All-American and named to the NCATA All-Academic Team. Diaz was named ECAC Player of the Week once in the 2019 season. Throughout the course of the season Diaz would record four perfect 10 scores. She regularly competed in 10 heats each meet. Diaz came into every meet with excellence and difficulty on her mind as she never had a start value in any heat lower than a 9.9. She helped the Bobcats to an appearance in the NCATA National Championship where the team would secure a spot in the semifinals after defeat No. 5 Fairmont State.

Guittard starts her career off with the honor of ECAC Rookie of the Year. She was also named ECAC Rookie of the Week once this year. Throughout the year she routinely competed in twelve heats for the Tornado making a big impact. Her role on the team was one in being versatile and helping the team in any way she could. Guittard competed as a base, back base and a tumbler throughout the year.

Osher was a top tumbler for Quinnipiac recording no score lower than a 9.4 throughout the regular season. She recorded personal best scores this year with a 9.625 in the 6-element pass and a 9.7 in the open pass. The best score of the sophomore’s season came in the compulsory toss heat where she was able to record a perfect 10.0.

Powers is voted ECAC Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season after leading Quinnipiac to a 5-3 record. The Bobcats went a perfect 3-0 against ECAC opponents and coached Camren Diaz and Melani Mancini to All-American Status. The team would reach the NCATA semifinals before falling to the No. 1 seed Baylor University. The team averaged a season team score of 271.396 and had a season-high score of 276.590 at Gannon.
