ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Honors

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its weekly awards for women's gymnastics for the week of competition ending Mar. 3.

Gymnast of the Week
Caroline Caponi – The College of William & Mary, Jr., Brookfield, Wisconsin
 
Caponi post a career high 39.025 in the all-around competition as William & Mary competed against University of North Carolina. She led the team and tied for second overall on the uneven bars scoring a 9.8. She recorded a season-high 9.75 on vault to help the Tribe register the program’s sixth-best score in school history in the event. The final scores she achieved to reach her new career-high all around were a 9.8 floor routine score and a 9.675 on the balance beam.

Specialist of the Week
Natalie Yang – University of Pennsylvania, Fr., San Mateo, California
 
Yang who specializes on the balance beam had an outstanding week for the Quakers as they had a two-meet week. She started her week off with a 9.875 beam routine against Southeast Missouri on Mar. 1. This set a new career-high, the second consecutive week she did so and won the event. Then on Sunday Yang scored a 9.725 as the Quakers scored an over 48.6 on the beam against Lindenwood University and University of Illinois Chicago.

Rookie of the Week
Samantha Sakti – The College of William & Mary, Fr., Arcadia, California
 
Sakti tied for the beam title with a 9.85 in a dual meet against the University of North Carolina. She would also post a new career-high on vault with a 9.8, tying her for third. She also competed on the floor scoring a 9.8.

Coaches Choice
Monica Servidio – Temple University, So., Howell, New Jersey
 
Servidio had an outstanding meet as the Owls competed against No. 23 Ohio State University and No. 24 University of West Virginia. Servidio would tie her second-highest all-around score with a 39.025. She scored a 9.725 on vault, a career-best 9.825 on the uneven bars, a 9.75 on beam and finished off with a 9.725 on floor.

Gymnast of the Week
Kelly Aycock – University of Bridgeport, Sr., Locust Grove, Georgia
 
Senior captain, Kell Aycock continued to be one of Bridgeport’s most consistent performers. She led the team’s floor lineup this week and scored a 9.8. She was also the second highest score on the uneven bars with a 9.75.

Specialist of the Week
Crystal Gwinn – University Bridgeport, Fr., New Port Richey, Florida
 
Gwinn stuck her Yurchenko layout full on vault for the Purple Knights scoring an impressive 9.825. She also was the teams second highest performer on the floor with a score of 9.75.

Rookie of the Week
Jordan Peloquin – Southern Connecticut State University, So., Greenville, Rhode Island
 
Peloquin, a first-year transfer, posted a team-leading 9.825 on the balance beam placing her in second place at the event. When it came to vault she scored a 9.5 and finished in sixth place on floor scoring a 9.7.
 

Coaches Choice 
Annie Bailey – West Chester University, Fr., Chelmsford, Massachusetts   
 
Bailey competed for the first time in her collegiate career this past weekend due to suffering an injury before the season started. She began the day as competing exhibition on both floor and balance beam. However, when a teammate got hurt she was pulled into the beam lineup. She had a great routine for the team as a quick substitute and scored a 9.55 for the Golden Rams.
