Track Athlete of the Week
Carmen Lagala - University of Vermont
Senior, Montpelier, Vt.
Lagala won the 1000-meter race at the Husky Winter Carnival with a time of 2:52.57.
Field Athlete of the Week
Tynisha McMillian - University of Connecticut
Sophomore, Stamford, Conn.
McMillian had an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the shot put (51-4 ¼) at the Alden Invitational hosted by Brown University. She also threw the 20 pound weight for a distance of 60 feet 3 inches.
Division II
Track Athlete of the Week
Nicole Radzik - Bryant University
Senior, Sutton, Mass.
Radzik took fourth place in the 5,000-meters at the Husky Winter Carnival, with a time of 17:38.90.
Field Athlete of the Week
Jacqui Barrett - University of Massachusetts-Lowell
Sophomore, Woburn, Mass.
Barrett placed second in the shot put at the Husky Winter Carnival, throwing for a distance of 41-8 ½. She was first among the Division II and III competitors.
Division III
Track Athlete of the Week
Judline Tumson - Montclair State University
Sophomore, Newark, N.J.
Tumson finished first in a field of 46 in the 55-meter event, crossing the line in 7.43 seconds. She also captured first place in the 200-meter race with a time of 27.09. To wrap things up at the Wesleyan University Invitational, she ran the anchor leg of the 4x200-meter event which MSU won in a time of 1:49.83.
Field Athlete of the Week
Shannon Yates - Gettysburg College
Junior, New Vineyard, Maine
Yates won both the triple jump (36-0) and high jump (5-0), and finished fourth in the long jump (16-3 ½) at the Dickinson College Holiday Meet. She qualified for the ECAC Championships in the triple jump, and Gettysburg won the team title at the meet.
