Co-track Athlete of the Week
Chizoba Ezeigwe – Wheaton
College
Sophomore, Brockton, Mass.
Ezeigwe helped a relay team run the fastest time in the nation
and automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship before
provisionally qualifying in another event with the top time in New
England this season at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in
the New York City Armory over the weekend. In a meet that drew
athletes from nearly 115 schools, including almost 60 Division I
institutions, Wheaton was one of a handful of representatives from
Division III. Ezeigwe helped the 4x400-meter relay team finish in
3:51.91, which was the fastest in the nation this year and bested
the same foursome from Lincoln University that won the 2006 NCAA
indoor crown. Ezeigwe completed the 400-meter dash in 57.29, which
was a provisional qualifier and the fastest time in New England
this season, before running the top 200-meter dash time in the
region this season at 25.88. She now has the top 55M, 200M and 400M
times in the region this season.
Maddie Outman – Williams College
Junior, Boulder, CO
Outman won her race, and ran the fastest time in the
country in the 55m hurdles to automatically qualify for the
National Championships by running 8.21 at the Tufts Stampede.
Furthermore being a multi-eventer, Outman ran a PR in the 55m and
200m dash running 7.38 and 26.16 respectively and also competed in
the Long jump and Shot-put in the meet. In total for the
scored meet, which Williams won handily, Outman scored 27.5 points
out of 210.
Field Athlete of the Week
Caroline Doctor – Williams College
Senior, Franklin, TN
For the second week in a row, Doctor broke her own school record in the triple jump and automatically qualified for the National Championships with a mark of 11.82m or 38ft. 9.5in at the Tufts Stampede. Doctor leads the nation with that jump. Later in the meet she came back and provisionally qualified for nationals in the Long Jump with mark of 5.50m or 18ft. 0.5in. Doctor won both events contributing 20 out of 210 points for the Ephs.
