Co-Track Athlete of the Week
Chizoba Ezeigwe – Wheaton
College
Sophomore, Brockton, Mass.
All-American Ezeigwe won the 400-meter dash while also
provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship on Saturday at
the University of Rhode Island's Sorlien Invitational. Ezeigwe's
time of 57.73 - which was the third-best in the nation this season
- was also 1.99 better than the runner-up finisher and paced a
13-athlete field otherwise comprised of Division I and II runners.
The second-, third- and fourth-place competitors were each Division
I athletes. Ezeigwe also helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a
third-place showing.
Maureen Verdier – State University
College at Oneonta
Senior, Baldwin, N.Y.
At the St. Lawrence Indoor Classic, Verdier won the 55-meter
dash in 7.47 seconds, the 55-meter hurdles in 8.94 seconds, the
200-meter dash in 27.17 seconds and ran the lead leg in the winning
4X200-meter relay. She was also named SUNYAC Women’s Track
Athlete of the Week.
Field Athlete of the Week
Caroline Doctor – Williams
College
Senior, Franklin, Tenn.
Doctor dominated the field with a 11.48 meter (37', 8.25") mark in the triple jump at Saturday's quad meet hosted by MIT with Westfield State, and Rensselaer, beating the second place finisher by over five feet. The jump provisionally qualifies the All-American for the NCAA Championship - and is the best mark in the nation this season.
