2007 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships
St. Lawrence University’s women’s indoor track team
became the first Saint track team to capture an ECAC Championship
at the 2007 ECAC Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships
on Saturday when the Saints picked up eight points with a second
place finish in the final relay of the day to overtake Cabrini
College for the team championship in a 55-team field.
The Saints finished the meet with 48 points with Cabrini second
with 45, Frostburg third with 42 and Williams fourth with 41.
The Saint 4x800 relay team of Alexis Nuffer, Lindsey Taylor, Kim
Keszey and Laura Clarke won the meet with their second place finish
in a SLU record time of 9:36.94, nearly 11 seconds faster than the
previous mark which was set in the 2002 ECAC championships.
Freshman Alyssa Pirinelli was the only event champion for the
Saints, winning Friday’s shot put competition with a throw of
13.25 meters (43-5.75).
Second place is the highest finish ever for the Cavaliers at
the ECAC championships. Lauren Deas, who will represent
Cabrini at next week's NCAA indoor championships, captured the
