Div. III Women's Basketball Players of the Week

Division III - Metro

Player of the Week

Asia Smith - Medgar Evers College
Freshman, F/C,
New York, N.Y.

The newcomer dominated the paint as Medgar Evers won a pair of contests last week.  The 5'10" forward/center averaged 19.5 points and 16.5 rebounds, and converted 50 percent (17-34) of her field goal attempts.  The Manhattan native had a monster game against Maritime (12/2), stuffing the stat sheet with 28 points, 23 rebounds, eight steals, and four blocks.  She followed that up with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win against New Rochelle (12/3).

Player of the Week

Brittany Whetts - Neumann College
Freshman, Guard/ Forward,
Philadelphia, Pa.

Whetts averaged 21.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists for the Knights in a 3-0 (2-0 PAC) week.  Whetts recorded career-highs in both points and rebounds as she posted 27 points against non-conference opponent Penn State University Berks Monday and 16 rebounds against conference-opponent Wesley College Saturday.

Sydney Fasulo - Hamilton College (pictured)

Lancaster, Pa.

Sydney Fasulo scored a career-high 29 points and tied a career high with 14 rebounds to help lead Hamilton to a 77-76 overtime win at Utica College on Tuesday. Fasulo's basket with 1.5 seconds left in regulation tied the score at 69-all and sent the teams to overtime. She then scored six of Hamilton's eight points in the extra session. Fasulo was 9 of 15 from the floor and 11 of 12 at the free throw line. She grabbed 10 offensive rebounds.

Jessica Domes - Purchase College
Freshman, Guard,
Glenwood, N.Y.

Domes, a 5 '5" freshman guard for the Panthers, was selected for her strong offensive performance for the week leading her team to a 3-0 on the week (1-0 in conference play).Domes finished the week with 71 points (23.6/game), 15 rebounds (5/game), 17 assists (5.6/game),9 steals (4/game), 1 blocked shot; 10 for 27 from 3 point range as well as 11 for 11 from the free throw line, and a .45 shooting percentage.

Co-Players of the Week

Natalie Moyer - U.S. Coast Guard Academy
Junior, G,
Oklahoma City, Ok.

Moyer averaged 25.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, three assists and three steals a game as Coast Guard went a perfect 3-0 on the week with wins over Anna Maria, Albertus Magnus and Trinity. Moyer tied the school record with nine three-pointers as she finished with 40 points in the win over Anna Maria. She shot 38.3 percent from the field (23-60), 33.3 percent from three-point range (12-36) and 78.3 percent from the foul line (18-23).

Jenn Whiting - Castleton State College
Senior, Forward,
Granville, N.Y.

Whiting supplied Castleton with the necessary offense to win a pair of conference games over the weekend averaging 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. In a 72-52 win over Wheelock the senior forward scored a career-best 30 points and hauled in 11 rebounds while shooting 14-22 from the field. On Saturday in a 77-49 win over Bay Path Whiting tallied 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Spartans to victory.
