Farmingdale Goes to 8-0 Claiming Bracket C of the 2010 ECAC Holiday Festival

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. - Farmingdale State College's women's basketball team improved their season winning streak to eight games, as they topped SUNYIT 61-54, and won bracket C of the 2010 ECAC Holiday Festival. The Rams defense forced 35 turnovers and rode Tournament Most Outstanding Player Kimberly Blakney's women's tournament record-setting performance to claim the title.

A day after setting records in points and rebounds, the senior guard broke both of her records scoring 32 points and grabbing an astounding 19 rebounds. Blakney was also outstanding on the defensive end, recording seven steals.

Blakney averaged 28 points, 17.5 rebounds, and seven steals for the tournament.

The Rams came into today off of a 14 point win over NESCAC member Connecticut College. Aiding Blakney's efforts was Kamaya Miller who netted 16 points.

The Wildcats were paced by a double-double from Taylor Topping (18 points, 12 rebounds). SUNYIT is back in action tomorrow as they face Connecticut College in the final game of bracket C.
