ECAC Announces Division III Women's South Basketball All-Stars

CAPE COD, Mass. – Senior guard Brittany Whetts of Neumann University has been chosen as the 2009-10 ECAC Division III South Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. Whetts led the Knights to a 26-7 record and an appearance in the NCAA tournament. Whetts averaged 20.9 points and 9.7 rebounds this senior. The Colonial State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Whetts is named to the ECAC first team for the first time.

Taylor Lotis of Penn State Behrend has been chosen as the 2009-10 ECAC Division III South Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year, with per-game averages of 12.2 points and 6.2 rebounds. The Lions’ guard was named the Allegheny Mountain Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year for her efforts.

Joining Whetts on the ECAC first team are Easter Faafiti from Gallaudet University, Andrea Hoover of Lebanon Valley College, Kennan Killeen from Washington and Jefferson College, and Kristy Stearns of Moravian College.

Faafiti, the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year, led her team averaging 19.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game during her junior season. Hoover averaged 12.1 points and 4.1 rebounds, and was named the Commonwealth Confernence Player of the Year.

Killeen, the Presidents Athletic Conference Player of the Year, has helped Washington and Jefferson to a 25-3 record, along with a NCAA tournament appearance. She averaged 12 points and 3.3 rebounds per game this season. Finalizing the first team is Stearns who averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds for the No. 8 team in Division III.

Five players were also selected to the ECAC second team: Chantelle Jennings from La Roche College, Kathryn Stockbower of Swarthmore College, Kelsey Wilcox from University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, Kim Vennera of Delaware Valley College, and Kate Harrison of Moravian College.

Representing the third team are: Daniello Michlovsky from Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham, Caitlin Moser of Gettysburg College, Suzie Noyes of Lebanon Valley College, Maggie Gibson of Washington and Jefferson College, and Jess Foran from Moravian College.
