St. Lawrence Claims Title at 2008 ECAC Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships


BOSTON, Mass. - The St. Lawrence University men's team got individual wins in the 1 Mile, Shot Put, and Weight Throw events to earn a total of 69 points and a first place finish at the 2008 Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.  Moravian College took second place with a score of 59, while Nazareth College finished a distant third with 38 points. 

Rounding out the top five teams were Tufts University with a score of 35 and the University of Southern Maine coming at 28.

St. Lawrence runner Erik Donohoe set a new ECAC Division III Indoor record with his win in the  1 Mile Run, coming in with a time of 4:12.02.  Eric Jones' winning distance in the Weight Throw also set a new mark, traveling 18.94m.  The other St. Lawrence event win came from Geoff Grambo in the Shot Put, recording a distance of 16.32m.

Four other ECAC Division III Indoor records were set during the meet, coming in the Pentathlon, 55-meter Hurdles, 800 Meter Run, and the 4x220 Yard Relay.  Nathan Scott of Tufts scored 3,587 in the Pentathlon, Ozzie Brown from Moravian clocked in at 7.43 in the 55-meter Hurdles, and Nazareth's Nick Stenuf ran into the 800 Meter record books with a time of 1:52.00.  Springfield College's relay squad only needed 1:30.17 to cross the finish line with the final record of the meet.
