Div. III Men's Basketball Players of the Week

For the week ending February 5, 2007

Division III - New England

Player of the Week

Nick Farrell-Colby College
Senior, Point Guard, Aspen, Colo.

Farrell averaged 31 points in two Colby victories last week while becoming the 33rd player in school history to score 1,000 points. On Wednesday at Maine-Farmington, Farrell had a game-high 23 points and seven rebounds. He followed on Saturday against NESCAC rival Bowdoin with a career-high 39 points on 11-for-19 shooting (.579) and seven three-pointers (7-12). For the week, Farrell was 20-for-39 from the floor (.513) and 10-for-23 from behind the arc while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game.

Division III - Upstate Player of the Week

Cantrel Parrish - State University of New York at Brockport
Freshman, Forward, Buffalo, N.Y.

Parrish scored a career high 29 points in a victory over Oswego 91-76, to cap off a 3-0 week for the Golden Eagles.  He shot nearly perfect from the line (14-15) and added 8 rebounds in that victory. Parrish also scored 13 points in road wins over Geneseo, 82-70, and Fredonia, 74-51.  For the week, he averaged 6 rebounds per game while shooting 77% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line.  His 14-15 effort from the line against Oswego is 4th best in school history.

Division III - Metro

Player of the Week

Jason Boone- New York University
Senior, Center, Sugar Loaf, N.Y.

Boone averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 69.6% (16-23) from the floor in two crucial home victories against UAA opponents.  Boone tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in a 73-57 triumph over #7 Washington University on Feb. 2, handing the Bears their first UAA loss and snapping their 13-game win streak.  Two days later, Boone posted his fourth straight double-double (game-high 22 points, 11 rebounds) and added four assists in a 79-76 triumph over #19 University of Chicago.  NYU (16-4, 5-4 UAA) is ranked #25 nationally.

Co-Player of the Week

Rashawn Johnson- Wesley College
Sophomore, Guard, Selbyville, Del.

Johnson averaged 23.6 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Wolverines in an undefeated (3-0) conference week.  For the week, Johnson shot 50% (25 of 50) from the field, 48% (12 of 25) from three-point range and 90% (9 of 10) from the free throw line.  In Monday's 80-57 defeat of Cabrini College, Johnson scored 27 points and reached the 1,000 career point mark.
 
Jon Koch-Washington & Jefferson College
Senior, Guard, New Kensington, Pa.

Koch averaged 24.0 points 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in a pair of wins for the Presidents, while also becoming the all-time leading scorer in W&J men's basketball history. The senior scored 15 points to break the school scoring record in an 85-63 road PAC win at Waynesburg, and then poured in a season-high 33 points in an 88-83 overtime win at PAC foe Saint Vincent Saturday. Koch now has 1,695 career points and has started every game in his collegiate career (101 consecutive contests) at Washington & Jefferson.
