Div. III Men's Basketball Players of the Week

For the week ending February 19, 2007

Division III - New England

Player of the Week

Jimmy Bartolotta-Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Sophomore, Guard, Littleton, Colo.

Bartolotta posted big numbers in a 1-1 week for the Engineers. In a 76-68 victory against Lasell, he scored a game-high 27 points, while adding a game and career-high 21 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals. Although MIT lost to Clark on Saturday, Bartolotta was once again huge as he scored a game-high 32 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while adding nine rebounds, seven assists, a block and a career-high six steals. He combined to shoot 18-of-31 from the field and 22-of-23 at the free-throw line while averaging 29.5 points, 15 rebounds, 6.5 assists, four steals and two blocks.

Division III - Upstate

Player of the Week

John Grazioli-Hobart College
Junior, Forward, Melville, N.Y.

Grazioli led the Statesmen to a 3-0 week, averaging 25.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 1.3 blocked shots. At Hamilton on Tuesday, he scored a career-high 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting, including a pair of threes, and 4-of-4 from the line as Hobart won 87-86 in overtime. On Friday in a 69-62 win over RPI, Grazioli scored a game-high 18 points and shared game-high honors with seven rebounds. He closed out the season with another career-high, scoring 30 points and pulling down a game-high 11 boards in an 85-78 win over Vassar. Grazioli, who also had three steals and two blocked shots, connected on 10-of-14 from the floor, including a three, and was 9-of-12 from the line. For the week, he shot 67.4 percent from the floor, 55.6 percent from three-point range (5-9), and 81.3 percent from the charity stripe.

Co-Player of the Week

Mike Hoyt-Mount Saint Mary College
Senior, Guard, Florida, N.Y.


In his final home game at Mount Saint Mary College, senior guard Mike Hoyt went out in a big way.  Hoyt scored 57 points, including his 2,500th career point as he led the Blue Knights to a 95-77 upset of first-place Stevens.  Hoyt, who also had six assists, buried seven 3-pointers and was a perfect 18-for-18 from the free throw line.  In two games on the week, he averaged 42.5 points along with 5.5 assists while going 24-for-26 (92.3 percent) from the stripe.  Hoyt also had 28 points in a close loss to Farmingdale State.  The nation's leading scorer, Hoyt has 868 points this season.
 
Thomas Baker- Rowan University
Senior, Guard, Millville, N.J.

Baker earns averaged 32.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while shooting .510 from the field in a pair of league contests to help the Profs clinch the NJAC South Division championship. He first netted 28 points and seven rebounds in Rowan's 88-68 conference road win at Kean. He wrapped up the regular season by posting 37 points on 15-of-27 shooting from the field while adding six rebounds in the Profs' 80-69 victory over NJAC rival Richard Stockton.

Chris DelBrocco- Gwynedd-Mercy College
Senior, Guard, Philadelphia, Pa.

DelBrocco averaged 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the Griffins in an undefeated (2-0) conference week.  For the week, DelBrocco shot 54 percent (20 of 37) from the field and 56 percent (14 of 25) from three-point range. In the Griffins' season finale, Delbrocco tied his career high with 31 points, including the game-winner with 0.6 left to defeat Cabrini College 74-73.
