Div. III Men's Basketball Players of the Week

Division III - New England
 
Player of the Week
 
Chris Rose- Williams College
Junior, Forward, Middletown, N.Y.

Rose averaged 26.0 points per game as he led the Ephs in scoring each night during a 2-0 week. Tuesday night, Rose struck for 22 points as he was 7-for-11 (.636) from three-point range in a 63-61 win over Hamilton. On Saturday at Middlebury, Rose led all scorers with 30 points while grabbing eight rebounds, going 9-for-15 from the floor (.600) and 6-for-10 from three (.600). For the week, Rose connected on 51.6-percent (16-for-31) of his shots while shooting an impressive 61.9-percent (13-for-21) from behind the arc.

Division III - Upstate

Player of the Week
 
Jan Cocozziello- Hartwick College
Sophomore, Guard, Scotch Plains, N.J.

Cocozziello averaged 37.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game as Hartwick split two conference games.  He scored 39 points in a loss to Nazareth, tying the fifth-highest single game total in school history.  Cocozziello made 15 of 18 free throws.  In the Hawks' overtime win over RIT, he totaled 36 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.  Cocozziello connected on 13 of 23 field goals and eight of 10 free throws.

Player of the Week
 
Mike Hoyt-Mount Saint Mary College
Senior, Guard, Florida, N.Y.

Just when it seemed like Mike Hoyt couldn't get any hotter, the senior guard scored a career-high and Mount Saint Mary College single-game record 59 points to lead the Blue Knights to an 84-81 win at Farmingdale State.  Hoyt, who claims Player of the Week honors for the fourth straight week, was 16-for-30 from the floor (53.3 percent), 9-for-19 from 3-point range (47.4 percent) and 18-for-22 from the free throw line (81.8 percent).  His 59 points are the second-highest total for a Division III player this season.  Hoyt currently has 600 points in 18 games (33.3 per game).

Co-Player of the Week
 
Ian McCormick- Swarthmore College
Junior, Center, Seattle, Wash.

In a week of outstanding performances, McCormick averaged 22.5 points and 14.5 rebounds in leading the Garnet to a pair of victories.  He set career-highs with 29 points and 19 rebounds in the 83-78 win at Washington.  McCormick followed that effort with a 16-point, 10-rebound afternoon in a 66-60 win over Dickinson.  He has scored double-figures in nine straight games and has eight double-doubles to his credit this season.
 
Terrence Shawell- Alvernia College
Sophomore, Forward, Pottstown, Pa.

Shawell averaged 24.7 points and 7.7 rebounds for the Crusaders in undefeated (3-0) conference week.  For the week, Shawell shot 54% from the field.  In the 79-69 win over PAC pre-season favorite Wesley College, Shawell recorded a career-high 38 points.
