ECAC Announces Division I Men's Basketball All-Stars

CAPE COD, Mass. – Junior forward Wes Johnson of Syracuse
University is the 2009-10 ECAC Division I Men’s Basketball
Player of the Year. Johnson led the Orangemen to a Big East
regular season title with an overall record of 28-3. Johnson
averaged 15.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, both
team-highs. Ranking second on the team in blocks and steals,
Johnson shot 48.7 percent from the floor, 38.1 percent from
three-point range and 78.6 percent from the foul line.
Lehigh University freshman C.J. McCollum has been chosen as the
2009-10 ECAC Division I Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year,
with per-game averages of 18.9 points and 4.9 rebounds. The
Mountain Hawks freshman was named both the Patriot League Player of
the Year and Rookie of the Year for his efforts this season.
Joining Johnson on the ECAC first team are Greivis Vasquez from
the University of Maryland, Jon Scheyer of Duke University, Scottie
Reynolds of Villanova University, and Kyle Singler of Duke
University.
Vasquez, the ACC Player of the Year, is the only player in ACC
history to accumulate 2,000 points or more, 750 or more assists,
and 600 or more rebounds in his career. He is averaging 19.5
points and 6.3 assists per game. Duke’s Jon Scheyer is
currently averaging 18.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, and
helped the Blue Devils to ACC regular season and tournament
titles. Scottie Reynolds of Villanova helped the Wildcats to
another NCAA national tournament appearance by averaging 18.5
points per game during the regular season. Kyle Singler
averaged 17.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while helping the
Duke Blue Devils earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Five players were also selected to the ECAC second team: Charles
Jenkins of Hofstra University, Ryan Wittman of Cornell University,
Alex Franklin of Siena College, Da’Sean Butler of West
Virginia University, and Greg Monroe of Georgetown University.
Five players were also selected to the ECAC third team: Reggie
Holmes of Morgan State University, C.J. McCollum of Lehigh
University, Muhammad El-Amin of Stony Brook University, Justin
Rutty of Quinnipiac University, and Lavoy Allen of Temple
University.
