Number One Seed FDU Takes 2011 ECAC Women's Bowling Invitational

Elmwood Park, NJ - After being down 3 games to 1 in the championship match, top seeded Fairleigh Dickinson came back and avoided the upset over second-seeded Kutztown University. After losing game 4, the Knights ringed off scores of 209, 215, and 224; claiming the 2011 title. Sara Litterall was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Bowler as she averaged a score of 221 throughout the course of the weekend.

New Jersey City University topped Delaware State 4 games to 3 in the third place match, and St. Francis College (NY) rounded out the top five finishers as they defeated Norfolk State University.

The ECAC also honored an All-Tournament team which is comprised of the five most consistent bowlers as voted on by the head coaches. Litterall was joined on the team by teammates Joely Carrillo and Danielle McEwan. Kutztown University's Kayla Stamm and Sam Santoro claimed the last two slots.

The 2011 event featured 13 Division I and II institutions from all over the Northeast. This is the first year the event has been created in an invitational format to allow more high caliber teams to participate.

Eight participating teams are presently in the top 20 national poll distributed by the National Tenpin Coaches Association, highlighted by tournament host and defending NCAA Champion Fairleigh Dickinson University. The Knights enter the weekend as the number one team in the NTCA poll.

Competition on Saturday will be separated into two pools based on conference affiliation and overall winning percentage thusfar. Teams will be seeded into Sunday's playoff field based on their total pinfall accumulated Saturday.
