POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - No. 2 seeded Brown University won its first ever ECAC Championship in Women's Water Polo, withstanding a late charge from the no. 1 seeded Marist Red Foxes in a 10-8 overtime thriller. Marist countered late in the fourth quarter with two goals to tie the game at 7-7, and eventually took the lead with 16 seconds remaining on a goal by Rachel Sunday (Carlisle, Penn.).
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Valentina Rozas (Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) scored the game-tying and game-winning goals late in the fourth quarter to help the Bucknell women's water polo team to a come-from-behind 8-7 victory over Marist in the ECAC Championship title game Sunday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. It was the first-ever ECAC Championship crown for the Bison, who have placed in the top three at the event three years in a row.
The 18th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team won its third straight ECAC Championship on Sunday afternoon when it defeated Brown 7-6 in a tightly played came at Harvard's Blodgett Pool. Princeton is now 7-4 this season after winning three times this weekend.
