ECAC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards - March 27, 2012

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II-III (regional) women's lacrosse weekly awards for March 27, for the period ending Sunday:

Division II 

Offensive Player of the Week

Allison Smithwick – Dominican College
Freshman, Attack, Commack, N.Y.

Smithwick tallied 13 goals, adding seven assists, in a 2-1 week for the Chargers.  During the three-game stretch, the freshman also won 12 draws and recorded five ground balls, collecting the 13 goals on 17 shots.

Defensive Player of the Week

Dominique Mosca – Long Island University – C.W. Post
Junior, Goalkeeper, Merrick, N.Y.

Mosca stopped 13 shots against No. 6 Lock Haven to lead the Pioneers to an 11-8 win on Mar. 24.  The junior goalkeeper made six saves between the pipes in the second half, snuffing out any chances for a Lock Haven comeback.

Division III New England

Offensive Player of the Week

Kelly Finamore – Fitchburg State University
Senior, Attack, Weymouth, Mass.

Finamore recorded 23 points over two games for the Falcons, tallying 13 goals and 10 assists.  The senior totaled eight goals and four assists in a 21-13 win over Rivier, adding five goals and six helpers in an 18-5 win over Elms.

Defensive Player of the Week

Molly Gleason – Plymouth State University
Freshman, Midfielder, Haverhill, Mass.

Gleason played a major role for Plymouth State en route to a 2-0 mark in Texas.  The freshman averaged 7.5 draw controls and seven ground balls, netting a pair of goals for the Panthers in a win over the University of Dallas.  Against Pacific (Ore.), Gleason recorded seven draw controls, gathering six ground balls.

Division III Mid-Atlantic

Offensive Player of the Week

Karen Shaddock – Buffalo State College
Senior, Attack, Corning, N.Y.

Shaddock packed the offensive punch for the Bengals during a 2-2 week that included losses to two top-15 teams, scoring 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points.  The senior became the program’s all-time goal scorer with her 189th in a win over Union, 18-12, on Mar. 24 in Clermont, Florida.

Defensive Player of the Week

Alysia Pinkerton – Centenary College
Junior, Midfielder, Frenchtown, N.J.

Pinkerton led the Cyclones to a 3-0 mark over the week, putting up all-around strong numbers including 10 goals, four assists, 24 ground balls and 33 draw controls.  The junior picked up 15 ground balls and earned 13 draw controls while scoring four markers with an assist in Centenary’s 21-2 win over Rosemont, adding three goals and two assists in a 21-11 win over College of Notre Dame (Md).
