ECAC Announces 2010 Division II Softball All-Stars
CAPE COD, Mass. – Caldwell first baseman Kyrie Timbrook has been named 2010 ECAC Division II Softball Player of the Year. Timbrook led her team in batting average at .449 and runs batted in with 68. She ranks 21st in Division II in batting average, and 16th in RBI. Timbrook had a .742 slugging percentage with 22 doubles and 10 home runs. Her 22 doubles were good for 16th in Division II.
Dowling’s Jessie Stavola has been named the 2010 ECAC Division II Pitcher of the Year. Stavola posted a 19-6 record, and led her team with a 1.12 ERA, good for twelfth in Division II. Stavola only allowed opposing batters to hit .125 against her, and struck out 308 batters in 175.1 innings pitched. Stavola’s averages of 12.3 strikeouts per game and 2.99 hits per seven innings leads Division II.
Rookie of the Year honors go to Dominican’s Delaney Childers. Childers was a dual threat, making her presence felt in the circle and at the plate. Childers finished with a .387 batting average, and tallied 37 RBIs. She had 72 hits on the season, including 15 doubles, five triples and one home run. As a pitcher, she had a 22-9 record and a 1.67 ERA. She fanned 140 batters in 201.1 innings pitched.
Caldwell’s Dean Johnson was named Coach of the Year. Johnson led the Cougars to a 42-16 overall record. He coached his team to an NCAA Division II Tournament berth for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Joining Timbrook on the first team infield are Emily Redig (Mercyhurst), Cara Piasecki (Dominican), Christie Softy (C.W. Post) and Emily Slack (Dowling). Outfield selections include Melissa Medina (C.W. Post), Bailey Phillips (Le Moyne) and Rochelle Noren (Adelphi). Joining Stavola on the first team pitching staff is Brittany Pulido of Caldwell.

About the ECAC
The ECAC is the nation’s largest athletic and the only
multi-divisional conference with approximately 300 Divisions I, II,
and III colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and
westerly to Illinois. Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-profit
service organization, sponsors nearly 100 championships in 37
men’s and women’s sports, assigns more than 4,400
officials in 12 sports, administers nine affiliate sports
organizations and six playing leagues and recognizes more than
2,000 student-athletes through the public relations arm of the
