ECAC Announces 2010 Division III South Softball Major Awards and All-Stars
CAPE COD, Mass. – Neumann first baseman Jen Goslin has been named 2010 ECAC Division III South Softball Player of the Year. Goslin led her team with a .534 batting average and 52 RBI. She tallied 62 hits, including 19 doubles and five home runs. Goslin finished the season in the top five in Division III in batting average and walks (0.83/game). She helped lead the Knights to an NCAA Tournament berth.
Lauren Davis-Macedonia of Ursinus was named the ECAC Division III South Pitcher of the Year. Davis-Macedonia finished the season with a 19-5 record and a 0.73 ERA, which is good for fourth in Division III. She had 152 strikeouts on the season, while allowing opponents to hit just .150 against her.
Centenary’s Cara Montferrat was selected as the ECAC Division III South Rookie of the Year. The catcher batted .417 with 56 runs batted in. She slugged an astounding .879, tallying 15 doubles, five triples and 12 home runs. She also was stellar defensively, with a .986 fielding percentage. Montferrat is tied for twelfth in Division III in home runs, and is ranked 15th in slugging percentage.
Lebanon Valley’s Stacey Hollinger was named Coach of the Year. Hollinger led LVC to an overall record of 34-13, the most wins in program history. Hollinger led the Dutchmen to a regular season conference title. Lebanon Valley earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
Joining Goslin on the first team infield are Megan Donoghue (Lebanon Valley), Rhiannon Sorrentino (Alvernia), and Lauryn Weaver (Pitt-Bradford). First team outfield selections included Maria Vallone (Bethany), Brooke Tapman (Frostburg State) and Michelle Gravdahl (Salisbury). Jess LaValley (Merchant Marine Academy) joins the first team as a utility player, and Megan McInaw (FDU-Florham) was selected as a designated player. Joining Davis-Macedonia on the first team pitching staff is Kelly Leary of Salisbury.

About the ECAC
The ECAC is the nation’s largest athletic and the only
multi-divisional conference with approximately 300 Divisions I, II,
and III colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and
westerly to Illinois. Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-profit
service organization, sponsors nearly 100 championships in 37
men’s and women’s sports, assigns more than 4,400
officials in 12 sports, administers nine affiliate sports
organizations and six playing leagues and recognizes more than
2,000 student-athletes through the public relations arm of the
conference. The ECAC serves as the primary conference for select
members in the sports of men’s and women’s ice hockey,
and men’s lacrosse.
