ECAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Awards - April 3, 2012

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II-III (regional) men's lacrosse weekly awards for April 3, for the period ending Sunday:

Division II

Defensive Player of the Week

Jonathon O’Reilly – Saint Anselm College
Junior, Goalkeeper, Plano, Texas

O’Reilly picked up a Saint Anselm program-record sixth-straight victory, making 20 saves in a 2-0 week for the Hawks. The junior highlighted his week by stopping 12 of 15 shots in a 9-3 victory over Southern New Hampshire University before making five crucial saves in a close 6-5 triumph over Pace University.

Division III – New England Region

Offensive Player of the Week

Mark Flibotte – Bowdoin College
Senior, Midfielder, Cohasset, Mass.

Flibotte totaled 12 points on 11 goals and one assist in a 3-0 week for Bowdoin. He began the week by scoring three goals, including the game-winner, in a 9-8 victory over Springfield College. The senior then scored four goals in a 9-7 besting of Middlebury College. He finished his week with four goals in a 9-6 triumph over Williams College.

Defensive Player of the Week

Scott Giusti – Plymouth State University
Sophomore, Midfielder, Newton, Mass.

Giusti was dominant at the “X” in a 2-0 week for Plymouth State, winning 76.2 percent of his face-offs (32-for-42) to go along with averaging 11 ground balls per game. The sophomore collected 14 ground balls and won 74 percent of face-offs in an 18-7 victory over Saint Joseph’s College (Maine). He then picked up eight ground balls and won 12 face-offs in an 8-3 win over UMass Boston.

Division III – Mid-Atlantic Region

Offensive Player of the Week

Brian Thorp – Cabrini College
Junior, Attack, Marlton, N.J.

Thorp piled on the points last week with 16, including eight goals and eight assists, in two Cabrini victories. The junior scored five goals and dished out three assists in a win over Marywood University. He then tallied three goals and five assists in a victory over Whittier College.

Defensive Player of the Week

Michael Hinchey – Morrisville State College
Senior, Goalie, Lake Katrine, N.Y.

Hinchey had strong performances between the pipes, leading the Mustangs to a 2-0 week by registering 22 total saves to go with a .595 save percentage. He began the week making seven saves in an 8-7 victory over Vassar College. He followed up that performance with a 15-save effort in a 12-8 victory over Keuka College.
