Player of the Week
Kyle Meyer - Marist College
Senior, Outfielder, East Greenbush, N.Y.
Meyer hit .692 (9-for-13) with two home runs and 12 RBI in
a 3-1 week for Marist. He also scored four runs, stole two
bases, and recorded four hit by pitches. Against Siena, the
senior went 4-for-4 with eight RBI, while hitting a three-run home
run and a grand slam in back-to-back innings.
Pitcher of the Week
JT Ross - Northeastern University
Sophomore, Pitcher, Newton, Mass.
Ross tossed a complete game one-hitter to lead the Huskies
over Rhode Island, 12-1. He struck out 12 batters and didn't
allow a walk to improve to 3-1 on the season. Ross gave up
the lone hit in the second inning before retiring the final 23
batters in order.
Division II
Player of the Week
Nate Grove - Mansfield University
Senior, Outfielder, Williamsport, Pa.
Grove led the Mountaineers to a PSAC tournament berth,
hitting .625 with two home runs, six runs scored and 10 RBI.
In the last game of the regular season against East Stroudsburg, he
went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in the 16-15
victory.
Pitcher of the Week
Maxx Catapano - Southern Connecticut State
University
Sophomore, Pitcher, Milford, Conn.
Catapano threw a no-hitter in the 1-0 win over
Stonehill. He allowed just two walks and struck out a
season-high 13 batters. The sophomore didn't allow a runner
to reach base until two outs in the fifth inning.
Division III - New England
Player of the Week
Brendon Elliot - Bridgewater State College
Senior, Outfielder, Brockton, Mass.
Elliot batted .615 (16-for-26) with three doubles, four
home runs, five steals, 11 runs scored, and 22 RBI in a 6-2
week. In an 18-8 win over UMass-Dartmouth, he hit for the
cycle and drove in eight runs. Elliot added four hits and
four RBI in a 10-1victory over MCLA.
Pitcher of the Week
Chris DeGoti - Tufts University
Freshman, Pitcher, Miami, Fla.
DeGoti recorded three saves in three games against Colby
College to secure a spot for the Jumbos in the NESCAC
Championship. He tossed eight innings, allowing just two hits
and holding opponents to a .077 batting average, while striking out
nine.
Division III - Upstate
Player of the Week
Nate Stein - University of Rochester
Junior, Shortstop, Rochester, N.Y.
Stein went 12-for-21 in five games for the Yellowjackets
this week, hitting four doubles and driving in 10 runs. He
recorded four multi-hit games, highlighted by a 4-for-5 effort with
five RBI against Vassar.
Pitcher of the Week
Matt Tone - SUNY Cortland
Junior, Pitcher, Rochester, N.Y.
Tone struck out nine batters in seven-plus innings in
Cortland's 12-3 win over SUNY Plattsburgh last week. He
allowed only three hits and no earned runs to improve to 7-0 on the
season.
Division III - Metro
Player of the Week
Mike Guadango - William Paterson University
Junior, Outfielder, Upper Saddle River, N.J.
Guadango went 10-for-16 (.625) this week with two doubles,
three home runs, and 11 RBI in four games for William
Paterson. In a double-header sweep of Richard Stockton, he
went 7-for-10 with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI.
Pitcher of the Week
Tom Heeman - Farmingdale State College
Senior, Pitcher, Valley Stream, N.Y.
Heeman led the Rams to the top seed of the Skyline
Conference Tournament, pitching 7.2 innings in the 8-2 win against
St. Joseph's. He struck out four and allowed just one earned
run to secure his sixth victory of the season.
Division III - South
Player of the Week
Chris Nastasi - Manhattanville College
Junior, Second Baseman, Bayville, N.Y.
Nastasi recorded 13 hits in 22 at bats in a 4-1 week for
the Valiants. He drove in 16 runs and scored 11 more, while
hitting four doubles, a triple, and two home runs. In the
15-10 win over DeSales, Nastasi went 3-for-5 with two runs scored
and six RBI. The junior was just a triple short of the cycle
in the contest.
Pitcher of the Week
Tim Flannery - Albright College
Senior, Pitcher, Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Flannery broke the Albright single season strikeout record
in a 1-0 win over Arcadia, striking out 12 batters in the complete
game shutout. The senior now has 73 punch outs on the
season. He allowed just four hits and didn't walk a batter.
