CAPE COD, Mass. -- After finishing the regular-season with a 22-15 record, Rutgers-Newark was selected as the number one seed in the 2009 ECAC Division III Metro Baseball Championship. The tournament is a five-team field with first round, semifinal and championship rounds.

In the first round contest on Wednesday, May 6, No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology (19-19) will host No. 5 College of Mount Saint Vincent (18-16) at 7:00 p.m.   No. 1 Rutgers-Newark (22-15), No. 2 US Merchant Marine Academy (21-13) and No. 3 Ramapo College (19-18) receive first round byes.

The first-round winner will advance to the semifinals on Friday, May 8. The winner of No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology/College of Mount Saint Vincent match up will face No. 1 Rutgers-Newark at Bears Riverfront Stadium in Newark, NJ at 4:00pm.

The other semifinal match-up will be US Merchant Marine Academy (21-13) hosting No. 3 Ramapo College (19-18) on Friday May 8 at 3:30pm.

The semifinal winners will meet Saturday, May 9 for the championship at the highest remaining seed.
