Sarni, Johannink and Brooks Headline 2014 ECAC Division III Metro Baseball All-Stars

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Purchase College senior Michael Sarni (Shelton, Conn.), Rowan University junior Dylan Johannink (Medford Lakes, N.J.) and Rutgers University-Camden freshman Joe Brooks (Backwood, N.J.) took top honors, as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2014 Division III Metro Baseball All-Stars and major award winners today. Sarni was named the Player of the Year, while Johannink was voted Pitcher of the Year and Brooks was selected as the Rookie of the Year. The voting was completed by the head coaches within the ECAC Division III Metro Baseball membership.

Sarni batted .373 with 19 RBI this season for the Panthers. Johannink was masterful on the mound for the Profs, posting a perfect 6-0 record and a 2.37 earned run average. He started in eight of his nine appearances this season, going the distance twice and striking out 54 batters in 57 innings. Johannink helped guide Rowan to a 33-12 record and its second straight New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship and berth in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional.
