Freshman Lauren Bloch earned Most Outstanding Player honors as third-seeded Coast Guard won the ECAC Division III New England championship by beating top-seeded and host Plymouth State 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 26-24).
The Gallaudet University volleyball team won back-to-back matches on Saturday at DeSales University to win the program's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship.
With a win over Elmira in the tournament final, Ithaca earned the 2009 ECAC Upstate/Metro Women's Volleyball Championship. The Bombers (26-17) defeated the Soaring Eagles (17-12) 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.
