Corvias ECAC Volleyball Players of the Week (for week ending September 29, 2013)

Division I

Julie Crum – American University

Senior, Outside Hitter, Hacienda Heights, Calif.

Crum collects her second straight weekly award after leading American to a 3-0 week, including victories in the Eagles' first two League matches of the campaign. After posting a 10-kills, 15-dig double-double on Wednesday in a five-set win over UMBC, Crum scored 10 kills in Friday's straight-sets victory at Lafayette in her team's League opener. The senior was a main contributor on offense against Saturday with 15 kills and a .324 hitting percentage in another 3-0 win, this time at Bucknell. For the week Crum averaged 3.18 kills per set and hit .244, and upped those numbers to 4.17 and .263 against League opponents. She also averaged 2.45 digs per set across 11 sets. 

Taylor Cembalisty – Iona College

Junior, Outside Hitter, Carrolton, Texas

Taylor Cembalisty led the Gaels to a 3-0 week. Cembalisty averaged 3.8 kills, 2.2 digs, and 0.8 blocks per set while hitting .315. Defensively, she converted 91% of her 22 serve receptions. In MAAC play, Cembalisty's averages improved to 4.29 kills and 1.00 blocks per set while hitting .353 in the seven sets played. Cembalisty posted a season-high 19 kills in Iona's four-set win over Fairfield while hitting a stellar .390. The day prior she had 11 kills and eight digs in a three-set win over Quinnipiac. Earlier in the week she posted eight kills and 10 digs in the Gaels' victory vs. St. Francis Brooklyn.

Division II

Jaclyn Delcid – Caldwell College

Junior, Libero, Bogota, NJ

Del Cid averaged 4.36 digs per set over three wins last week. She had 15 digs in a 3‐0 victory over Dominican on Wednesday, then notched 21 digs in a five‐set win at Chestnut Hill. Del Cid ended the week with 12 digs in a sweep of Goldey-Beacom on Saturday. 


Division III – New England

Callie Dolan – Endicott College

Senior, Outside Hitter, Westford, Mass.

Dolan played a key role in the Gulls 3-1 record on the week including a conference win. Dolan led Endicott in kills in every match on the week averaging 4.46 kills per set, while earning double digit kills in every match. In a 3-0 conference win over UNE, the outside hitter recorded 14 kills, while hitting .355 and earned six digs in the match. The senior tied her career high in kills with 22 in a four set victory over Baruch. The 22 kills also tied for fourth highest single match output in school history. Dolan recorded 12 kills in the Gulls 3-0 win over Ramapo and 10 kills in a tough 3-0 loss to Richard Stockton. On the week, the outside hitter recorded 58 kills, 13 digs, seven blocks, and three service aces.

Felicia Wachowiak – Saint Joseph’s College (ME)

Sophomore, Middle Blocker, Milton, NH

Wachowiak was nearly unstoppable in a GNAC tri-match sweep on Saturday, as the sophomore tallied 25 kills and .595 attack percentage in shutout victories over Albertus Magnus College and University of Saint Joseph (CT). She was flawless versus the Falcons with 13 kills and no miscues in 17 attempts in the opener and closed the day with 12 kills against the Blue Jays. For the week, Wachowiak tallied 32 kills and 15 total blocks, with 13 solo rejections and a pair of assists.


Division III – Metro/Upstate

Nicole Serekian – Richard Stockton College

Senior, Opposite Hitter, Mahwah, NJ

Serekian averaged 3.63 kills and 2.32 digs per set during a 6-0 week of play for Stockton. She opened the week with five kills and six digs in a 3-0 NJAC road win at Rutgers-Camden. Two nights later, she tallied nine kills and six digs in a 3-0 NJAC win over Ramapo. One night later at the Baruch Tournament, she notched 11 and 14 kills respectively in 3-0 victories over Endicott and host Baruch. She then tallied 11 kills and seven digs in a 3-0 win over Skidmore, before wrapping up the week with a double-double 19 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 win over Hunter. Serekian, who earned Most Valuable Player honors for her play during the Baruch Tournament, currently ranks third in the NJAC in points (3.98 per set).

Jenna Blujus – SUNY Potsdam
Senior, Setter/Right Side, Baldwinsville, NY

Two-time all-conference setter Jenna Blujus had another monster weekend for the Bears, to lead Potsdam to a 3-0 Pool Play weekend and a spot atop the SUNYAC standings. She had 11 kills, 20 assists and 18 digs in Potsdam's five-set victory over Cortland on Saturday. It was the Bears first win over the Red Dragons since 2008 and just the third victory in the series since 1984. Blujus finished out the weekend with 27 kills, 58 assists and 47 digs.


Division III – South

Ali Celentano - Carnegie Mellon University
Junior, Right Side, Mission Viejo, Calif.

Celentano led the Tartans to a 4-1 week with a hitting percentage of .319 and a total of 61 kills. She had three double-digit kill games including 17 against nationally ranked Stevenson University in the last game of the week. Celentano also picked up a career-high nine blocks against Stevenson in a match the Tartans lost in five games, despite leading 2-0.

Greta Weidemoyer – Lebanon Valley College
Freshman, Middle Hitter/Outside Hitter, Lititz, Pa.

 Weidemoyer put down double-digit kills in three of her five matches this week, continuing her impressive rookie campaigh. The freshman hit .500 with 12 kills and just one error on 22 attacks in a 3-0 win over Kean in the Goucher Tournament. Weidemoyer hit a stellar .320 hitting percentage for the week, also putting up a 17-kill performance in tough five-set loss to Washington College.
