SCHENECTADY, NY -- Ithaca College won the 2007 ECAC Division III Upstate Women's Volleyball Championship with a five game victory over Vassar Saturday night at Union College.
Ithaca 30-25, 28-30, 30-25, 26-30, 15-6
Ithaca earned its first ECAC title since 1992. The Bombers
defeated Vassar 3-2 in the championship match. Senior outside
hitter Amanda Hubbard (Horseheads/Horseheads) was named tournament
MVP. Hubbard led the way for the Bombers against Vassar with 28
kills, 22 digs and three aces. Her 642 kills in 2007 are third-most
in a season in program history.
Sophomore setter Corinna Doctor (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) matched
a career-high with 69 assists. Her season total of 1,603 assists is
a new Ithaca College single-season record.
Sophomore Rachel Busch (Hoover/North Canton, Ohio) had 15 kills
and five blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Jen Heberton
(Darien/Darien, Conn.) posted 20 a career-high kills and five
blocks, while senior defensive specialist Mary Schaefer (Eden/Eden)
had 25 digs with a career-high six aces.
