Men’s Cross Country Runners of the Week (For period ending 10/30/11)
Zac Edwards – Liberty University
Junior, Roanoke, Va.
Edwards won the individual title at the Big South Cross Country Championships setting a new course record at Coastal Carolina’s Quail Creek Golf Club with an 8k time of 23:56. His time was 18 seconds ahead of the runner-up and led Liberty to its seventh consecutive Big South Title.
Division III – South Region
Bill Jones - Franciscan University of Steubenville
Junior, Green Bay, Wis.
Jones won his second consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title, finishing ahead of the field by 1:15. He recorded a 26:53 time for the 8k course and led the Barons to their second straight team championship.
Division III – New England Region

Alex Gomes – Salem State University
Senior, Peabody, Mass.
Gomes defended his individual title at the 41st annual Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships for the Vikings, registering a time of 25:04 at the 8k event to earn a second straight crown and MASCAC runner of the Year honors.
Kevin Hoyt – Keene State College
Senior, Newton, Conn.
Hoyt swept the individual titles at the 2011 New England Alliance and Little East conference Championship this past weekend on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The senior finished the rain soaked 8k course in 24:50 to defeat the 153-runner regional field. Hoyt helped Keene earn second place in each championship field.
Division III – Upstate/Metro Region
Lee Berube – SUNY Geneseo
Senior, Putnam Station, N.Y.
Berube won his third straight individual championship in leading Geneseo to its third consecutive and 11th overall team title at the SUNYAC championships. His 8k time of 25:24 was 27 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. His win marks the third time in SUNYAC history that an individual has won three straight (Bob Lalley, Cortland – 63, 64, 65 and Art Gunther, Binghamton – 90, 91, 92).
