Div. III Men's Soccer Players of the Week

For the week ending September 16, 2007

Division III - New England

Offensive Player of the Week

Drew Dilley - Norwich University
Junior, Forward,
Columbia, Pa.

Dilley scored a total of five goals and had one assist in a 3-win week for Norwich.  He recorded a hat trick against Lyndon State, scored twice in a comeback victory over Suffolk, and added an assist against Elms.

Defensive Player of the Week

Kyle Fossey - University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth
Senior, Goalkeeper,
Townsend, Mass.

Fossey recorded two shutouts during the week - a four-save performance in a 2-0 win over Mt. Ida, and a six-save effort in a victory over Western Connecticut.

Division III - Upstate

Offensive Player of the Week

Shaman Mason - Morrisville State College
Freshman, Forward,
Syracuse, N.Y.

Mason scored six times during the week, including both game-winners against Hilbert and SUNY Potsdam.  In the 6-3 win over Hilbert, he had four goals and an assist.  Mason then scored both of his team's goals against Potsdam.

Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Scott Bergen - State University of New York at Fredonia
Senior, Goalkeeper,
Schenectady, N.Y.)

Bergen recorded six saves in a 2-0 win over No. 15 Geneseo.

Andy Wilhelm - Ithaca College
Junior, Goalkeeper,
Ellicott City, Md.

Wilhelm made seven saves in a 1-0 win over No. 15 Geneseo.  He also stopped six shots in a 1-0 loss to Hamilton.

Division III - Metro

Offensive Player of the Week

Cristhian Acuna - New Jersey City University
Junior, Forward,
East Newark, N.J.

Acuna assisted on the game-winning goal and then scored one himself in a 3-0 win at William Patterson.   He followed up his performance with three goals and one assist in a 4-2 victory over St. Joseph's-Patchogue.

Defensive Player of the Week

Chris Wright - New York University
Junior, Goalkeeper,
Colchester, Conn.

Wright made a total of 10 saves in a win and a tie this week.  He recorded eight saves in a 2-2 overtime tie with No. 16 Richard Stockton, and then made two saves during a 1-0 shutout of Eastern Connecticut.

Division III - South

Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Bryan Pierzga - Pennsylvania State University - Altoona
Senior, Midfield,
State College, Pa.

Pierzga scored four goals and had an assist on the week.  He was named the MVP of the Penn State Altoona Challenge Cup, as he scored both game-winning goals for his team.

Tom Parkinson - Dickinson College
Freshman, Forward,
Westfield, N.J.

Parkinson scored the lone goal in a win against Susquehanna, and followed it up by tallying the only goal against Washington - one that came with just 59 second remaining in the game.

Defensive Player of the Week

Rodrigo Barboza - Dickinson College
Junior, Goalkeeper,
Caracas, Venezuela

Barboza shutout Susquehanna, 1-0, by making five saves.  The he recorded four saves in a 1-0 win over Washington.
