Salem State captures 2005 ECAC Division III New England Men's Golf Title
HAMPDEN, Mass. – Salem State College’s Sean LaBelle shot a one-over par 73 (35-38) to earn individual medalist honors as the Vikings captured the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference Men's Division III New England Golf Championship, at the Hampden Country Club in Massachusetts.
With the help of LaBelle’s 73, Salem State won the championship with a combined team total of 306. UMass-Dartmouth finished second with a team total of 311, Nichols College finished third at 313, and Trinity College finished fourth at 314. Springfield finished in a tie with Western New England College (WNEC) for fifth overall with 315 team strokes.
Springfield College’s Greg Levings and Michael LaJoie each carded six-over par scores of 78 with identical front and back nines (40-38) to finish in a tie for 11th overall out of 94 competing golfers. SC’s Andrew Wright finished tied for 21st with a 79 (+7). The Pride’s Matt McCarthy shot an 80 (+8) to round out the top four for SC.
