Rhode Island takes 2006 ECAC Division I Men's Golf Championship

WESTERLY, R.I. - Rhode Island senior Jesse Larson fired a 1-over 72 to lead the Rams to an 11-shot victory in the 12-team field at the ECAC Championships Sunday at Shelter Harbor Golf Club.

Entering the day with a seven-shot lead after Saturday's first-round team score of 295, URI finished 11 strokes ahead of the field with a two-day total of 602. Boston College won a tie-breaker with Sacred Heart to take second place after both teams finished at 613.

Larson took medalist honors by following up a first-round 74 (+3) with a 1-over par 72 on Sunday to finish 4-over (146) for the tournament. Senior teammate Ben Spitz (69-79=148) and Sacred Heart freshman Adam Petrovsa (72-76=148) tied for second place 6-over par.
