ECAC Announces 2009 Division III New England Region Field Hockey All-Stars

CAPE COD, Mass. - Tufts' junior forward Tamara Brown is the 2009 ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Year. Brown had 55 points on the season, with 21 goals, including six gamewinners, and 13 assists. She helped lead the Jumbos to an 18-2 season.
Robyn Williams, a junior defender for Trinity had an outstanding season with 12 goals, 10 assists and 34 points, earning her the title of ECAC New England Defensive Player of the Year.
The ECAC New England Rookie of the Year is Lauren Greer of Middlebury. Greer had 18 goals, including four gamewinners, and four assists this season, totaling 40 points. Greer also earned a spot on the ECAC second team.
Joining Brown on the ECAC first team as a forward is Carly Benning of Keene State. Benning had 58 points on the season, scoring 27 goals, including 14 gamewinners, and four assists. Forwards Taryn Flagg of the University of New England and Stephanie Kinchla of UMass Dartmouth both had noteworthy seasons, earning an All-ECAC first team spot. Flagg had an impressive 56 points on the season, with 23 goals and ten assists. Kinchla tailed 22 goals and had five assists, giving her 49 points on the season.
The ECAC first team consists of three midfielders, including Babson junior Colleen Kelly. Kelly had 32 points, eight assists and 12 goals, two of which came from penalty stokes. Morgan Rein, a senior, had a strong season for Springfield College with 11 goals and 14 assists on the season. Bowdoin's Ingrid Oelschlager helped the Polar Bears this season with four goals and six assists for a total of 14 points.
The defensive unit for the ECAC first team All-Stars consists of Williams, Keene State's Erin Dallas, and Tuft's Margaret Scholtes. Dallas had an unmatched 12 defensive saves, helping Keene State to a 18-6 record. For Tufts, Scholtes converted every penalty stroke she attempted during the 2009 season.
Trinity goalkeeper Gina Dinallo earned first team ECAC accolades with her performance in goal this season. For Trinity, Dinallow started every game, earning .871 save percentage and a 1.14 goals against average. The sophomore played over 1,345 minutes allowing only 22 goals and making 148 saves.

About the ECAC®
The ECAC is the nation's largest athletic and the only multi-divisional conference with approximately 300 Divisions I, II, and III colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois.
