Div. III Football Players of the Week
For the week ending October 14, 2007
Division III – Northeast
Offensive Player of the Week
Zach Librizzi – Wesleyan University
Senior, Quarterback, Essex Jct., Vt.
Librizzi produced an impressive all-around effort in leading the
Wesleyan offensive attack. The senior had two rushing
touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, while compiling 294 yards of
total offense.
Co-Defensive Players of the Week
Rich Bradley – University of
Massachusetts-Dartmouth
Junior, Linebacker, Wareham, Mass.
Bradley tallied 17 tackles, including 16 unassisted stops and a
sack in a shutout victory over Salve Regina.
Jay Fielding – Westfield State College
Junior, Linebacker, Methuen, Mass.
Fielding led the Owl’s defense with 21 tackles, including 11
solo stops. The junior also recovered a fumble late in the
fourth quarter to seal the victory for Westfield.
Division III – Northwest
Offensive Player of the Week
Jack Phelan - Hartwick College
Junior, Wide Receiver, Slingerlands, N.Y.
Phelan had a career day hauling in 11 passes for 212 yards and
five touchdowns. The junior led Hartwick to a victory over
Becker with touchdown receptions of 10, 24, 25, 29, and 45 yards
all in the first half
Co-Defensive Players of the Week
James Alexander – Hobart College
Senior, Defensive Back, Beverly, Mass.
Alexander paced the Hobart defense with three takeaways and three
tackles in a win over Merchant Marine. The senior intercepted
two passes and recovered a fumble in the Statesmen’s
victory.
Joseph Catalano – Union College
Junior, Linebacker, Albany, N.Y.
Catalano once again led a determined Union defensive effort with
an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown. The junior
also contributed five tackles including one for a loss in a win
over Susquehanna.
Division III – Southeast
Offensive Player of the Week
Mike Isgro – Delaware Valley College
Sophomore, Quarterback, Galloway, N.J.
Isgro amassed 239 yards and three touchdowns on 18 of 24 passes as
Delaware Valley defeated FDU-Florham. The sophomore added a rushing
touchdown on a 13-yard scamper.
Defensive Player of the Week
Brian Burd – William Paterson University
Senior, Defensive Line, Roxbury, N.J.
Burd lead a strong defensive effort for William Paterson despite
falling to TCNJ. The senior recorded a game-high 11 tackles,
including seven unassisted. Burd also had 4.5 tackles for a
loss, including two sacks.
Division III – Southwest
Offensive Player of the Week
Tom McCafferty – Washington & Jefferson
College
Senior, Wide Receiver, Large, Pa.
McCafferty broke a school single-game record with four touchdown
receptions in a victory over Westminster. The senior recorded
146 yards on eight catches.
Defensive Player of the Week
Bryan Robinson – Wesley College
Senior, Defensive End, Harrington, Del.
Robinson led the Wesley defense with 10 tackles, seven of which
went for a loss, including 3.5 sacks. The senior broke the
career Wesley sack record with his 3.5 sacks and now has 44.5 sacks
in his career.
