ECAC Announces DI Men's Basketball All-ECAC Teams and Major Award Winners

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2019 Division I Men’s Basketball All-ECAC Team.

Hofstra University Guard Justin Wright-Foreman was voted Player of the Year while Jalen Pickett from Siena College was awarded Rookie of the Year. Matt Langel, head coach at Colgate University, was named Coach of the Year.

Wright-Foreman, a senior guard from Queens, NY was the second leading scorer in the nation, averaging 27.0 points per game in his final campaign. His scoring was powered by incredible shooting percentages, 43 percent from three-point range and 51 percent overall. Wright-Foreman was one of only four players in the nation to take at least 500 field goal attempts and shoot over .500 from the field. The senior finished his career ranked second all-time in Hofstra history with 275 three-pointers, and second all-time in scoring at Hofstra with 2,298 career points. Wright-Foreman was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and All-CAA First Team. This marks the second consecutive year that Wright-Foreman wins ECAC Player of the Year.

Pickett, a freshman guard from Rochester, NY set records in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, being named Rookie of the Week 11 times this season. He broke Siena’s freshman program records for points (521) and steals (66) and racked up the fourth highest single season assist total (221) in program history. Overall, the freshman ranked top-50 nationally in assists, steals, and assist-to-turnover ratio, and top-10 in those categories amongst freshman. Pickett’s rookie season peaked when he became just the second player this century with a 40-point, 10-assist game when the scored 46 points and dished out 13 assists vs. Quinnipiac on Feb. 17. For his efforts this season Pickett was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year and All-MAAC First team.

Coach Matt Langel, 2018 and 2019 Patriot League Coach of the Year, brought Colgate to new heights as he led the Raiders to program records in wins (24), league wins (13), and home victories (15) this season. The raiders won both the regular season and Patriot League tournament for the first time since 1996, making just their third NCAA tournament appearance in program history.
