ECAC Announces DII Softball Major Awards & All-ECAC Selections

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II Softball Awards and All-ECAC selections for the 2018 season.
 
Brenna Martini of Adelphi University was named the ECAC Player of the Year, while West Chester University senior Amanda Houck collected the award for Pitcher of the Year. Kaity Stocker from Gannon University received the ECAC Rookie of the Year award, while her head coach Tom Jakubowski was voted the Coach of the Year to complete the major awards.

Martini led Adelphi University in nearly every offensive category in 2018 en route to earning here second ECAC Player of the Year award in a row. The senior batted .372 with 13 home runs and 42 RBIs during the regular season, and led the Northeast-10 Conference in walks (27), total bases (106), on base percentage (.483) and slugging percentage (.716).

Houck continued to perform exceptionally well in 2018 as she ended the season with a record of 31-5 (and two saves) while recording 25 complete games and 10 shutouts all with a miniscule ERA of just 1.06. The senior also was named to the All-ECAC First Team.

Kaity Stocker was tabbed Rookie of the Year after an impressive campaign. Stocker led all of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division with 47 RBIs, 12 home runs and a .740 slugging percentage. She has accumulated 44 hits, 21 of which were for extra bases while compiling a .364 batting average.

Tom Jakubowski was named Coach of the Year following a 32-15 overall record this season. Under his direction, Gannon University claimed its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title in school history. Jakubowski’s squad boasts five all-conference players this season. The Golden Knights earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament but were knocked out in the Super Regionals.
