ECAC Announces DII Women’s Lacrosse Major Awards and All-ECAC selections

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II Awards and All-ECAC selections in women's lacrosse for the 2018 season.

Hunter Isnardi of Mercy College was voted as the Offensive Player of the Year, while Caldwell University’s Rachel Lucia garnered the award for Defensive Player of the Year. Gannon University goalkeeper Erin Renwick collected the Rookie of the Year honor, with West Chester University’s Ginny Martino rounding out the major awards with the Coach of the Year honor.

Isnardi, the Offensive Player of the Year, scored 85 goals on the year to lead Division II with an average of 5.31 goals per game. Her goal total is also tops in the country. The midfielder also led the nation with 11.88 draw controls per game. On the year, she has 214 draw controls, nearly 100 higher than runner up in the East Coast Conference (ECC). In addition, Isnardi also finished in the top-five in the ECC with 52 ground balls.

Lucia earns Defensive Player of the Year honors after leading the team with 46 ground balls and 34 caused turnovers. She added 28 goals and seven assists for 35 points, while ranking third on the team with 42 draw controls. In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), Lucia ranks third in caused turnovers and seventh in ground balls.

Renwick was named Rookie of the Year after a strong freshman campaign at Gannon University. The goalkeeper played in 14 games where she made 163 saves with a 14.59 goals against average. The three time ECAC Rookie of the Week ranks second among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) goalkeepers in saves per match with 11.64 and third in total saves.

Martino’s squad finished the regular season as one of two undefeated teams in NCAA Division II at 17-0 and No. 6 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. The Golden Rams claimed the No. 1 seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament and won the title for the 11th time under her guidance. West Chester University led the conference in goals (278) and goals margin per game (+10.4).
