ECAC Announces Softball Players of the Week for Week Ending April 1.

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Softball Players of the Week for the week ending April 1.
 
DIVISION II
Player of the Week
Sara Ercolani – Sr., INF., West Chester University
 
Ercolani had a strong week as she went 7-for-13 at the plate with five RBIs and two runs scored to help West Chester University go 3-1. Against Shepherd University on Tuesday afternoon Ercolani went 1-for-4 in both games with one RBI in the first game of afternoon which West Chester won by a final score of 5-0. The senior was unstoppable on Saturday afternoon as she was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored. In the first game of the day, Ercolani went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored including a massive solo home run to left that tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning. In the second game, Ercolani stayed hot as she went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored thanks in large part to a ringing two-RBI double to right center in the third inning.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Yazzy Jameson – Jr., P, Mercy College
 
Jameson went 2-0 in the circle this week recording a 0.54 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched. The junior struck out four in six scoreless innings for a complete game shutout against the College of Saint Rose for a 5-0 win on Tuesday. Jameson followed that up with a seven inning complete game win as Mercy College defeated Queens College 3-2 on Saturday.   
 
Rookie of the Week
Breanna Klaiber – Fr., IF, Long Island University-Post
 
Breanna Klaiber had a huge week for Long Island University-Post as she went 10-for-21 at the plate with a home run, three doubles and ten RBIs. The Pioneers went 4-2 on the week, helped by Klaiber who drove in a run in five of the six games.  
 
DIVISION III - METRO
Player of the Week
Kristen Arbiter – Sr., C, St. Joseph’s College-Long Island
 
Kristen Arbiter was voted Player of the Week after batting .500 (15-for-30) at the plate over a 6-2 week for the Golden Eagles. The senior scored eight runs, ripped 10 extra-base hits (seven doubles, two triples, one home run) and drove in 11. Arbiter hit a walk-off homer in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against John Jay College to seal a 5-3 victory.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Hailey Warner – Sr., P, DeSales University
 
Hailey Warner pitched a two-hit complete-game (six innings) shutout in an 8-0 win over Eastern University last week. The senior struck out 10 batters while holding the Eagles to a .105 batting average and just two base runners.
 
Rookie of the Week
Sarah Byrnes – Fr., P, William Paterson University
 
Byrnes was voted Rookie of the Week after picking up three wins in the circle for the Pioneers. The rookie did not give up any earned runs in 15.2 innings pitched while striking out 15. She picked up both wins in a doubleheader sweep of Drew University, limiting the opponents to just six hits across both games. Byrnes went the distance in an eight-inning 4-3 win over Stockton University, with the three runs unearned while striking out six.  
 
DIVISION III – NORTH
Player of the Week
Christina Gambino – Sr., INF, Wilkes University
 
Led Wilkes University to a sweep of Eastern University going 3-for-4 at the plate with three home runs, nine RBIs, three runs scored, a walk and a sacrifice hit. Gambino accounted for seven of the eight runs in game one with a grand slam and a three-run home run in the 8-0 win. The senior started game two off with a two-run home run to finish off a five-run first inning. Gambino became the seventh player to knock in seven or more runs in a single game in program history.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Kelsey White – So., P, SUNY Canton
 
Kelsey White earned her first win of the season last week after tossing a complete game (five innings) against John Jay College. White gave up just two earned runs on six hits with a strike out as the Roos won the game 15-4. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Jackie Burke – Fr., DP, Marywood University
 
Jackie Burke led Marywood University to a 3-1 week as the rookie batted .583, collecting seven hits in 12 at-bats including four doubles, and a team best five RBIs over the four games. She had a .917 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Player of the Week
Vada Blue Sherrill – Jr., SS, Pfeiffer University
 
In six games last week, Sherrill went 10-for-15 with three home runs, 14 runs batted in and 10 runs scored to lead Pfeiffer University to a 5-1 record. Sherrill was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases and added a 1.333 slugging percentage to go with her .667 batting average and .682 on base percentage.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Kiana Millsaps – Jr., P, Pfeiffer University
 
Millsaps posted a perfect 4-0 record on the week and broke the program record for most wins on a season with her 20th victory of the year on Saturday. The junior recorded 13 strikeouts in her 13 innings of work and only walked one batter. For the week, the junior posted an ERA of 2.15 in five games and allowed opposing batters to hit just .152.
 
Rookie of the Week
Alona Sleith – Fr., INF, Saint Vincent College
 
Sleith slugged her sixth home run of the season and tallied six RBIs as the Bearcats swept Geneva College in a doubleheader to open conference play last Monday. She went 2-for-6 (.333) at the plate in the sweep while adding a double and three runs scored.
