ECAC Announces Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for Week Ending Mar. 25.

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week for the week ending Mar. 25.
 
Division II
Offensive Player of the Week
Dylan Harmon – So., MF, Belmont Abbey College
 
Dylan Harmon led Belmont Abbey College to an 18-7 win over Chowan University with his dominant performance at the faceoff circle. The sophomore won 22-of-26 face-offs and scooped up 14 ground balls to lead the Crusaders to victory.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Ryan Gibbons – Jr., GK, Mercy College
 
Gibbons went 2-0 with 15 saves in two games last week. The junior opened the week with three saves in the first half of Mercy College’s 20-7 win over American International College. Later in the week he registered 12 saves and six ground ball pickups in the Mavericks 12-6 win over Roberts Wesleyan College.
 
Rookie of the Week
Dominic Scorcia – Fr., A, Mercy College
 
Dominic Scorcia was voted Rookie of the Week following his contributions to Mercy College’s 2-0 record. The freshman began the week with three goals, an assist and one caused turnover in the Mavericks 20-7 win at American International College. Scorcia ended the week with a goal, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the 12-6 win over Roberts Wesleyan College. The rookie ended the week with four goals, one assist, three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
Division III—North
Offensive Player of the Week
Devin Newell – Jr., M, Curry College
 
Junior midfielder Devin Newell scored 14 points in Curry College’s 2-0 week against the University of Southern Maine and Norwich University. He scored eight goals and dished out six assists for the Colonels. Newell started the week with a hat trick against Southern Maine in a 19-6 win. He also picked up two assists in the contest. The junior then registered a career-high nine points against Norwich as he scored five goals and handed out four helpers.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Shane Weber – So., D, Alfred University
 
Sophomore Shane Weber had a dominant week defensively, as he led Alfred University in ground balls and caused turnovers. Weber had 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers against Elmira College in the Empire 8 Conference-opening win. Earlier in the week, he had eight ground balls and five caused turnovers against Oswego State University. In both games, Weber took one shot, put it on goal and behind the goalie as he tallied his first two goals of the season. He also was credited with an assist in both matches.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jason Bram – Fr., M, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
 
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute defeated nationally ranked No.19 Ithaca College, 16-7, with freshman midfielder Jason Bram scoring three goals, all unassisted, on a game-high 10 shots. His first marker came in the second quarter and put the Engineers ahead, 6-5 - a lead they would not relinquish. He scored again in the third quarter, making the score 9-5, and again in the fourth for the final tally of the game.
 
Division III — South
Offensive Player of the Week
Jared Nelson – Fr., A, Pfeiffer University
 
Nelson led Pfeiffer University to a pair of wins last week. The freshman found the back of the net five times and dished out 11 assists as well as scooping up three ground balls. In a 20-7 win over William Peace University, Nelson finished with four goals and four assists to go with three ground balls. Later in the week against Huntingdon College, Nelson handed out seven assists and scored a goal as Pfeiffer won the game 10-8.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jakob Katzen – So., GK, McDaniel College
 
Jakob Katzen led the Green Terror to a 7-3 win over Haverford College in the conference opener on Saturday. He allowed just three goals while making 14 saves, including eight in the fourth quarter when Haverford pelted the defense with 20 shots.
 
Rookie of the Week
Matt DeMeo – Fr., A, Maritime College
 
Matt DeMeo registered a nine-point week with five goals and four assists over a two-game stretch. In the first game of the week against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, a 12-8 defeat, DeMeo scored two goals on three shots and picked up two ground balls. Later in the week against the College of Mount Saint Vincent, a 14-1 victory, DeMeo tallied three goals and four assists with a ground ball pickup.
