ECAC Announces Softball Players of the Week for Week Ending Mar. 11.

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Softball Players of the Week for the week ending Mar. 11.
 
DIVISION II
Player of the Week
Haley Simonds – So., UT, Newberry College
 
Simonds found herself in the batter's box 22 times this week and recorded 15 hits for a batting average of .681. She hit two home runs with 18 RBIs, crossed the plate six times and hit four doubles and two triples.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Amanda Houck – Sr., P, West Chester University
 
Houck went 3-1 this past week for West Chester University. In 23.1 innings pitched, the senior recorded 19 strikeouts while only letting up 11 hits and two earned runs. Houck made two starts and came in as relief on two occasions.
 
Rookie of the Week
Hannah Mueller – Fr., 1B/2B, Mercy College
 
Mueller batted .500 (4-for-8) with a team-high five RBIs along with four runs as Mercy College went 3-0 last week. The freshman opened the week with a 4-for-6 day recording five RBIs and two runs against Stonehill College. Mueller followed that up with two runs scored and a stolen base in a 10-2 win over Philadelphia University & Thomas Jefferson University on Sunday.
 
DIVISION III - METRO
Player of the Week
Olivia Zengel – Jr., OF, Kean University
 
Zengel earns the honor after an explosive offensive week helped Kean University jump out to a 6-0 record to start the season. The junior went 12-for-15 (.800) at the plate with a .867 slugging percentage. She drove in four runs, scored five, and stole four bases. Zengel put together five multi-hit games, and hit safely in all six contests.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Hailey Warner – Sr., P, DeSales University
 
Warner posted a 2-0 record in three appearances last week, including a complete-game (5 innings), no-hit shutout over Simmons College. The senior finished the week with 18 strikeouts in 13 innings of work. In the 13-0 win over Simmons, the senior stuck out six batters, walked just two and did not allow a hit or a run. In a 6-5 win over Bridgewater College, Warner pitched a complete-game (7 innings), while striking out 11 batters, walking two and giving up just three earned runs.
 
Rookie of the Week
Maggie Foss – Fr., OF, Rutgers University-Camden
 
Foss earns the Rookie of the Week award after leading Rutgers University-Camden to an opening weekend split. In her first two collegiate games at the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic, Foss went 5-for-6 (.833) with two runs, two RBIs, one double, two triples and a 1.667 slugging percentage. She played right field in a season-opening loss to the College of St. Scholastica and went 1-for-2 with one walk and one RBI. In the second game of the day, a win against Sarah Lawrence College, she played center field and went 4-for-4 with two triples (tying a program single-game record), one double, two runs, one RBI and nine total bases (one shy of tying a program single-game record). She also added two defensive assists on the day.
 
DIVISION III – NORTH
Player of the Week
Sharon Trigilio – Sr., OF, Medaille College
 
Sharon Trigilio hit .523 (23-for-44) and slugged .795 as Medaille College went 7-5 in the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC. She scored 13 runs, while picking up nine RBIs, four stolen bases, three doubles, three triples and one home run. 
 
Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Harms – Sr., P, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
 
Harms went 4-1 with a 0.90 ERA over 23.1 innings pitched last week. The senior recorded 13 strikeouts over six appearances with two complete games. Of the six runs against her, only three were earned. Harms held her opponents to a .200 batting average while giving up a total of 16 hits on the week. In a 4-1 win over Catholic University, Harms pitched a complete game allowing three hits with three strikeouts and one earned run.
 
Rookie of the Week
Sydney Saucedo – Fr., OF, Alfred University
 
Sydney Saucedo finished the week with a team leading 11 runs scored. The rookie went 15-for-43 (.349) as she drove in three runs and smacked her first collegiate triple against Aurora University. She then totaled three runs on a 2-for-5 showing against Montclair State University with one RBI. Defensively, Saucedo never missed a play in center field as she recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Player of the Week
Vada Blue Sherrill – Jr., SS, Pfeiffer University
 
In eight games last week, Sherrill produced a .500 batting average (14-for-28) with 14 runs scored, six home runs and 19 RBIs. In a game against Johnson C. Smith University, Sherrill hit grand slams in back-to-back at bats and finished the game with three homers and 10 RBI. For the week, Sherrill posted a slugging percentage of 1.250 and walked six times with zero strikeouts. Her on base percentage was .588 and she stole 10 bases. Pfeiffer University went 7-1 on the week.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Jazmyn Rohrer – Sr., P, Westminster College
 
Rohrer went 4-1 in the circle with a 0.91 ERA last week for Westminster College. She finished Westminster’s Spring Break trip with three complete games, including a two-high shutout in an 8-0, five-inning win over Defiance College. Rohrer also finished with 44 strikeouts last week, tying her career high with 12 in a 5-3 victory over Rhodes College.
 
Rookie of the Week
Alona Sleith – Fr., 3B, Saint Vincent College
 
Sleith continued the strong start to her collegiate career, compiling .500 average (8-for-16) with two home runs, six RBIs, seven runs scored and 15 total bases during Saint Vincent College’s 3-3 week at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Florida. The freshman also posted a .579 on-base percentage and a .938 slugging percentage. Defensively, Sleith posted a fielding percentage of 1.000 while tallying a team-high 11 defensive assists.
