NYU Hits Century Mark in Opening Round Road Win

SCRANTON, Pa. - Traveling as a No. 1 seed is not common, but such was the case for New York University to open the ECAC Division III Women's Basketball Championships. NYU went on to roll away with a 100-64 win at Marywood University.
While Kayla Patterson led all players with 24 points it was Kaityln Read's double-double 19 points and 11 assists which paced the Violets in their fifth-straight ECAC opening round. Read clipped off 5-of-6 3-pointers, followed from long range by Catherine Gould, who was 3-for-4 from the arc for 13 points.
Erika Bistran led Marywood with 20 points, while Gab Giordano had 13.
NYU built a 36-point halftime cushion, 59-23, to set up its second-half finish.
NYU (16-10) advance to the quarterfinals to face Saint Vincent College on Friday at 5 p.m. at overall No. 1 seed Washington and Jefferson College (Pa.) Marywood closes out its season with a 15-13 record.
