ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its weekly awards winners for women's gymnastics for the week of competition ending Feb. 11.
Division I
Gymnast of the Week
Monica Servidio – Temple University, Fr., Howell, New Jersey
Freshman Monica Servidio competed in the all-around for just the second time in 2018. He all-around mark of 38.725 was good enough to win the all-around topping three other opponents. Her scores for the weekend were a 9.725 on vault, 9.75 bars routine, 9.7 balance beam and a career-high floor score of 9.8. The floor score was one of many highlights for the Owls as they scored a 49.05 which is second highest team floor score in program history.
Specialist of the Week
Alex Hartke – University of Pennsylvania, Sr., Montgomery, New York
Senior Alex Hartke had a career day this past weekend. She first competed on the balance beam to garner a score of 9.625. She then went out and crushed her floor routine to score a 9.925 her new career mark and second all-time at Penn. The score helped the Quakers to tie a school record on the event with a 49.3.
Rookie of the Week
Jacey Baldovino – Yale University, Fr., Santa Clara, California
Baldovino continues her stellar freshman campaign by getting another season high in the all-around of 39.15. The score notched her first place in the all-around at the Don Tonry invitational. She continues to work toward history as her 39.15 is the highest for Yale since 2003 and currently ranks fifth highest all-around in school history. To add on to her achievements, she set a school record on the balance bean with a 9.925 and capturing first place. To round out her all-around competition Baldovino score a 9.7 on vault, 9.75 on bars and 9.775 on floor.
Coaches Choice
Charlotte Cooperman – Yale University, Fr., Southborough, Massachusetts
Cooperman led Yale off on beam at the Don Tonry Invitational this past weekend. Her routine earned a score of 9.75. The score was a personal career high and began what would be the highest team beam score in school history (49.05). Cooperman will look to continue to build on her performance this Saturday as the Bulldogs welcome in The College of William & Mary.
Division II
Gymnast of the Week
Kathleen Aberger – Southern Connecticut State University, Sr., Plano, Texas
Aberger had a solid weekend at the Don Tonry Invitational. She helped the Owls to achieve a new season-high team score of 191.825. Aberger posted a score of 9.675 on bars good for sixth and third on floor with 9.725. She high lighted the competition for the Owls by tying a school-record on the beam. She posted a score of 9.85 which was also captured her third place on the event at the invitational.
Specialist of the Week
Kelli Tereshko – University of Bridgeport, Sr., Madison, New York
Tereshko, the captain of the Purple Knights nailed her specialty, uneven bars, this past weekend. In a weekend which the Purple Knights competed in back to back meets she did not waiver and posted back to back great scores. On Saturday she garnered a career high of 9.85 and was the team’s top finisher to take home first place on bars at the Don Tonry Invitational. She followed that up Sunday with another first-place finish on the bars with that 9.8.
Rookie of the Week
Jessica Meakim – West Chester University, Fr., Downingtown, Pennsylvania
Freshman Jessica Meakim set a career high this past weekend while also capturing first for one of her events. She placed first on vault when the Golden Rams competed at home against Cornell. She posted a career high of 9.8 on vault which took first place. She then posted a 9.8 with her floor routine.
Coaches Choice
Kylyn Dawkins – Southern Connecticut State University, Jr., Bridgeton, New Jersey
Dawkins posted three solid performances for the Owls at the Don Tonry Invitational. On vault she earned a 9.525, on beam she scored a 9.6 and her floor exercise garnered a 9.625.
