ECAC Announces 2018 Division I Women's Volleyball All-ECAC
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2018 Division I Women’s Volleyball All-ECAC Team & major award winners.
Aisha Skinner of Hofstra University is voted Rookie of the Year as head coach of the program Emily Mansur wins Coach of the Year. Madelyn Kaprelyan from Central Connecticut State University is honored with Offensive Player of the Year and Natalia Rivera from LIU Brooklyn wins Defensive Player of the Year.
Kaprelyan had an outstanding junior year. She was Named Northeast Conference Player of the Year after ranking third in the conference in hitting percentage (.293) fifth in kills per set (3.24) and recording nine double-doubles on the year. She had a season high 23 kills against Sacred Heart University and a career high 24 assists against Saint Francis University. Overall Kaprelyan had 309 kills, 269 assists, 134 digs and 68 total blocks.
Rivera is named Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Northeast Conference in digs per set (5.43) which ranked 16th nationally. She posted a single match league-highs in digs for both three set (25) and four set matches (33). For the season she totaled 494 digs, 17 service aces and 63 assists.
Aisha Skinner had a great freshman year where she ranked in the top five in three different categories for Hofstra. She was second on the team in kills (403), third in digs (298) and fourth in blocks (63). Those numbers got her awarded Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year, All-CAA Second Team and CAA All-Rookie Team. Skinner was also named CAA Rookie of the week on five occasions in 2018. She averaged 3.25 kills per set, 3.61 points per set, and 2.40 digs per set for the Pride.
Emily Manusr led Hofstra to its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2014 after a 25-8 season. The Pride were the number one seed in the 2018 CAA Tournament, the first time since 2006. This marked a big turnaround for the program after being a five seed in 2017. These accomplishments led Manusr to be named the CAA Coach of the year, Hofstra’s first Coach of the Year since the 2004 season.
