ECAC Announces 2018 Division III Women's Soccer All-ECAC
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2018 Division III Women’s Soccer All-ECAC.
Senior forward Krista Heckman from Grove City College was voted Offensive Player of the Year. Penn State University Behrend Forward Brenna Mcguire won Rookie of the Year. Misericordia University took home two major award honors as Kristen Ritter claimed Defensive Player of the Year and Mark Stauffer takes home Coach of the Year honors.
Heckman a senior from Lock Haven Pennsylvania finished her final campaign with 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points. Of her 10 goals scored, six of them were game winning goals for the Wolverines. In the NCAA tournament she led the team to the second round that included a win over the defending national runner-up Chicago. She garned other awards such as United Soccer Coaches All-American, First Team All-Great Lakes, First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference and Presidents’ Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
Kristen Ritter had herself a senior year to remember for Misericordia University. Ritter played in over 1,800 minutes this year as she anchored a defense that allowed just 0.55 Goals Against Average. She helped lead the Cougars to an NCAA Elite 8 appearance. She also tallied six points on the year with two goals and two assists. For her efforts during her senior year she was named, Second-team United Soccer Coaches All-American, First-team United Soccer Coaches All Mid-Atlantic Region, MVP of the MAC Freedom Tournament and MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year.
McGuire had a first year of collegiate soccer to be admired. The freshman from McDonald, PA, garnered AMCC Player of the Year and AMCC Newcomer of the Year awards. She led the conference in goals with 13 and total points with 29. In total for the year she scored 18 goals, had five assists for 41 points. She registered five game winning goals during the season as she started every game for the Lions.
Coach Stauffer led Misericordia to a 17-3-2 overall record. He was named United Soccer Coaches Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year as well as the MAC Freedom Coach of the Year. He led the team to its third straight MAC Freedom title and a trip to the NCAA Elite 8.
