ECAC Announces Women's Cross Country Runners of the Month for October

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Womens Cross Country Players of the Month for October 2018.
 
Division II
Runner of the Month
Nazirah Purnell - So., Lincoln University
 
Purnell equaled the best finish ever by a Lincoln women's cross-country runner in the CIAA Cross Country Championships, reaching the podium with a third-place finish. The mark helped lead the Lions to sixth place overall.  During the month she recorded a five-kilometer personal best at the HBCU Classic in Cary, NC placing sixth overall with a time of 20:14.2. She also ran a six-kilometer personal best time of 27:04.8 at the Jack St. Clair Invitational.
  
Rookie of the Month
Rebekah Thomas - Fr., King University
 
Thomas posted her fourth straight personal record on October 12th at the Royals XC Challenge. She covered the five-kilometer course in 19:46, her first time under the 20-minute mark for that distance. Thomas followed up that performance by finishing the 12th Annual Sand Shark Invitational on October 20th with a time of 20:02.5.
 
Division III- North
Runner of the Month
Hannah Martin - So., Vassar College
 
In October, Martin led Vassar to the team title at the final Seven Sisters Championships. She finished second with a six-kilometer time of 23:12.8.  Also in October, Martin became the first Brewer to earn a top-10 finish at the Liberty League Championships since 2016.   
 
Division III - South
Runner of the Month
Clare Schoen - Sr., Misericordia University
 
During October, Schoen won two races, including the MAC Championship where she finished first overall with a time of 23:03.  The second race was the DeSales Invitational where Schoen ran a 21:54 and finished first overall to lead the Misericordia University women's cross-country team to a runner-up finish.
 
Rookie of the Month
Alison Bryant - Fr., Franciscan University of Steubenville
 
Bryant was named AMCC Newcomer of the Year after finishing second at the AMCC championship meet in October.  Bryant posted a personal best time of  23:07.03 at the Inter Regional Rumble.
 
Division III - Metro
Runner of the Month
Meagan Haviland - So., St. Joseph's College L.I.
 
During October, Haviland made the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll three times. At the 19th Annual SJC Invitational, Haviland posted a five-kilometer time of 20:46.3 and a ninth-place finish.
 
Rookie of the Month
Robin King - Fr., U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
 
The recently crowned ECAC Individual Champion was completely dominant in October, as she was named Skyline Runner of the Week after both meets she ran in. In her first event of the month, she won the St. Joseph's Invitational, finishing ahead of numerous Division I, II and junior college runners. She then helped lead the Mariners to the Skyline Conference Championship after yet another first-place finish.
