ECAC Announces Women's Cross Country Runners of the Month for September

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Cross Country Players of the Month for September 2018.
  
Division II
Runner of the Month
Kirstin Barton - Jr., King University
 
Barton set three personal records in three races this season. She has also won two Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week awards. She started her season off with a five-kilometer personal record at the Tusculum Open where she finished runner-up. The junior followed that with a six-kilometer personal record with a time of 24:17.3 at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational. At the Great Louisville Classic, she finished seventh in a field of nearly 350 runners with a five-kilometer time of 19:10.8, again setting her personal record for the third time in the month.
 
Rookie of the Month
Rebekah Thomas - Fr., King University
 
Thomas started her career with an eighth-place finish at the Tusculum Open with a five-kilometer time of 21:28.5. She bettered that mark with a time of 20:20.2 at the Greater Louisville Classic where she finished 51st in a field close to 350 runners. Her fastest six-kilometer time of 25:04.1 came at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational where she finished 34th.
 
Division III – North
Runner of the Month
Caroline Driscoll - Sr., St. Lawrence
 
Driscoll finished in second place at the Saratoga Cross Country Invitational to lead the 18th-ranked Saints to a team title. The field included sixth-ranked Williams and 15th-ranked Rensselaer. Finished second behind teammate Sarah Moon at the Cardinal Classic at Plattsburgh State to open the season.
 
 
Rookie of the Month
Ashley Walker - Fr., St. Lawrence
 
Walker was the top first-year at the Saratoga Cross Country Invitational, finishing in 10th place overall. That time was good enough to be the Saints' No. 2 runner and help lead the Saints to a team title. She has been one of the Saints' top-four runners in every race this season and has finished in the top-10 in all three races.
 
Division III – South
Runner of the Month
Katie Schrantz - Jr., Westminster College
 
Schrantz finished in the top-15 in three of her meets during the month of September, including two top-ten finishes. Schrantz placed ninth at the Penn State Behrend Invitational with a season-best time of 21:11.9. She earned a first-place finish with a time of 21.59.30 at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational.
 
Rookie of the Month
Laura Aston -Fr., Saint Vincent
 
Aston was the Bearcats' top finisher in three of the four meets in September. The freshman claimed the Saint Vincent College Invitational on Sept. 15th and for her efforts in that meet, was named the PAC Rookie Runner of the Week.
 
Division III – Metro
Runner of the Month
Meagan Haviland - So., St. Josephs L.I.
 
Haviland finished in second place at the St. Josephs College Friends and Alumni Race four-kilometer on Aug. 31. She continued on to place fourth at both the Mt. St. Mary, and Bard Invitationals six-kilometer on Sept. 29 and Sept. 22, respectively. For her efforts during the month she was recognized as Skyline Conference Runner of the Week on Sept. 4. along with a Skyline Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 10 and Oct. 1.
 
Rookie of the Month
Valentina House - Fr., New York University
 
House had a great start to her collegiate career with three top-10 finished (third, third, eighth) in her first four races. Her best race came at Rowan when she completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 23:34.
