ECAC Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week for Week Ending Jan. 28.

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending Jan. 28.
 
DIVISION II
Player of the Week
Mia Hopkins – Sr., F, West Chester University
 
Hopkins was dominant this week as she recorded a pair of double-doubles in two Golden Ram victories. On the week Hopkins averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds per game, while also being deadly from downtown at 66 percent on the week. In the first game against the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown,  a 78-68 victory, Hopkins was 4-for-11 from the field with 11 rebounds, three assists, three blocks, one steal and 10 points. In a home match against Bloomsburg University, Hopkins was 8-for-15 from the field and 1-for-2 from downtown with 11 rebounds, four blocks, two assists, one steal and 18 points.
 
Rookie of the Week
Amber Brown – Fr., F, Mercy College
 
Amber Brown averaged 15.0 points and six rebounds per game in two games for Mercy College last week. The freshman opened the week with 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists against Daemen College in a 81-47 loss before ending the week with ten points and five rebounds in a 77-53 loss at Roberts Wesleyan College.
 
DIVISION III – Metro
Player of the Week
Andrea Iavarone – Sr., F, St. Joseph’s College-Long Island
 
Iavarone averaged 34.5 points, 26.0 rebounds and four blocks per game over the Golden Eagles' 2-0 week in conference action. The senior shot 62.5 percent (25-for-40) from the floor, and 79.2 percent (19-for-24) from the charity stripe over the two games. In the 83-69 victory over Farmingdale State College, Iavarone scored 37 points and pulled in a program-record 27 rebounds. In a 74-71 victory over Purchase College the senior added 32 points, 25 rebounds and six blocked shots while shooting 11-for-14 from the floor and 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.
 
Rookie of the Week
Taylor George – Fr., G, Brooklyn College
 
George scored in double figures in both contests for the Brooklyn College Bulldogs. She poured in 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting in a 74-57 win over Lehman College and had 11 points, three assists and three steals in a 93-30 win over Medgar Evers College.
 
DIVISION III – North
Player of the Week
Gracie Restituyo – Jr., F, Springfield College
 
Gracie Restituyo, a junior forward, helped the Pride to a pair of wins over conference opponents as she averaged 12.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and one assist on the week. In a 56-44 victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Restituyo had eight points and 15 rebounds before notching her ninth double-double of the year, totaling 17 points and 14 rebounds in a 72-60 win over Emerson College. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Katie Frederick – Fr., G, St. Lawrence University
 
Frederick led the Saints to a weekend sweep over Vassar College and Bard College, defeating the Brewers 58-52 and the Raptors 99-50. She recorded 13 points (6-for-11, 54.5%) and 10 rebounds against Vassar for her fifth double-double of the season. The rookie added another 14 points (7-for-9, 77.8%) and eight rebounds in the win over Bard. Frederick averaged 13.5 points per game on the weekend and nine rebounds per game. She totaled 27 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block on the week.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Player of the Week
Leah Hurst – Sr., G, Marymount University
 
Marymount University senior Leah Hurst was named Player of the Week after averaging 16.5 points on 54.2% shooting, six assists, 3.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Saints. Hurst opened the week with a career-high 21 points on 8-for-15 shooting while tallying four rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 64-45 victory over Salisbury University. In a 72-49 win at York College, she registered 12 points along with a season-high-tying eight assists and three steals.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jess Bowen – Fr., F, Grove City College
 
Bowen averaged 5.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and two assists per game last week for Grove City College. The freshman had eight points and 10 rebounds in last Wednesday’s 61-49 win over Waynesburg University before collecting three points, three assists and 13 rebounds in a 60-55 defeat to Washington & Jefferson College.
