ECAC Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week for Week Ending Jan. 14.

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending Jan 14.
 
DIVISION II
Player of the Week
Kori West – So., C, King University
 
West led the Tornado to a pair of conference wins last week. The sophomore averaged 19 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. She opened the week with a pair of career-highs, scoring 22 points and grabbing 18 rebounds in a win over Lees-McRae College. West followed that with another double-double scoring 16 points and adding 11 rebounds in a win over Erskine College. The sophomore shot 71.4 percent from the floor for the week.
 
Rookie of the Week
Amber Brown – Fr., F, Mercy College
 
Brown averaged a team high 21 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as Mercy College went 1-1 on the week. The freshman began the week with a career high 30 points and 10 rebounds as the Mavericks defeated 2017 Elite Eight Participant Queens College, 80-75 in overtime. The forward followed that up with a team high 12 points and nine rebounds against Molloy College in a 50-40 defeat. 
 
DIVISION III – Metro
Player of the Week
Tichina Carmon – Sr., F, US Merchant Marine academy
 
Carmon played a big part in the Mariners 3-0 week. The senior averaged 18.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.  The senior shot 52 percent (20-for-38) from the field, and was perfect in 16 attempts at the free-throw line. Carmon posted three double-doubles, including a career-high-tying 26 points (12-for-12 FT) to go with 10 rebounds in a 65-62 victory over Farmingdale State College. Earlier in the week, the forward collected 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 79-44 victory over Sarah Lawrence College before putting up 14 points and a game-best 12 boards in the Mariners 85-54 victory over St. Joseph's College-Long Island.
 
Rookie of the Week
Katie Smith – Fr., G, Mount Saint Mary College
 
Smith averaged 13 points, five assists and 3.5 steals during the Knights' 2-0 week.  The freshman netted 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting while dishing out six assists against St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn in an 86-62 victory. Later in the week, Smith added nine points, four assists and four steals in a 93-21 triumph over Sarah Lawrence College.
 
DIVISION III – North
Player of the Week
Alayne Felix – Jr., F, Maine Maritime Academy
 
Felix helped the Mariners to a 2-1 week averaging 20 points, 8.7 rebounds, four assists, 2.3 steals and one block per game. In the Mariners' 67-59 win over Colby College, the junior scored a career-high 31 points, while pulling down seven rebounds, dishing out five assists, claiming two steals and earning one block. The forward followed that performance with her sixth double-double of the season in a 63-55 win over New England College as she tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds, to go along with six assists, three steals and one block. Felix ended the week with 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in a tough 52-50 loss to Colby-Sawyer College.
 
Rookie of the Week
Katie Frederick – Fr., G, St. Lawrence University
 
Frederick recorded two double-doubles and helped lead the Saints to a 3-0 week, defeating Clarkson University 73-57, No. 22 Ithaca College 72-66 and Union College 72-53. To stat the week, Frederick recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds along with two blocks against Clarkson. The freshman then added 12 points with 16 rebounds in the win over No. 22 Ithaca. Frederick wrapped up the weekend with 14 points and four rebounds against Union. She totaled 39 points, 33 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal on the week.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Player of the Week
Finnley Christine – So., G, Penn State-Altoona
 
Christine had a huge week for the Lady Lions in a pair of conference games. In a loss to rival Mount Aloysius College, Christine led her team with 26 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She also added four assists and one steal. In a loss to Penn State Behrend, Christine put up a career-high 29 points to go along with nine rebounds, a team-high six steals, and one assist. On the week, Christine averaged 27.5 points per game, 11.0 rebounds per game, 3.5 steals per game, and 2.5 assists per game.
 
Rookie of the Week
Jenna Lafko – Fr., G, Saint Vincent College
 
Lafko averaged 11 points and 5.5 assists per game in a pair of league wins for Saint Vincent College last week. The freshman sparked Saint Vincent’s 78-51 victory over Thiel College as she recorded her first collegiate double-double. The guard tallied 16 points and 10 assists against the Tomcats. Later in the week against Westminster College, Lafko recorded six points with an assist in just nine minutes of action. The Bearcats won the game 83-43.
