ECAC Announces Men's Soccer Weekly Accolades for Week Ending Sept. 17

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17.
 
DIVISION II
Offensive Player of the Week
Mathias Krigbaum — Gannon University, SO, F
 
Krigbaum struck for three goals and an assist in Gannon's two victories last week. He scored in the 10th minute of in the conference opener at Pitt-Johnstown. Gannon won the match, 3-2. In Saturday's PSAC match against Bloomsburg, Krigbaum converted on a penalty kick, putting the Golden Knights up 1-0. Krigbaum was back on the attack in the 62nd minute, adding an insurance goal for Gannon. He was also in on Gannon's third goal with an assist. The Golden Knights took the match 3-0.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jorge Hernandez — Gannon University, SR, GK
 
Hernandez picked up his first two victories of the season against Pitt-Johnstown and Bloomsburg. The senior also picked up his first shutout of 2017 in the 3-0 victory over Bloomsburg. For the week, Hernandez finished with eight saves across the two matches.
 
Rookie of the Week
Alex Lee Yaw — Gannon University, FR, F
 
Lee Yaw started the first two matches of his career last week and the Golden Knights won both. Lee Yaw assisted on two of the three Gannon goals in a 3-2 victory over Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday and notched his first goal of the season against Bloomsburg.
 
 
DIVISION III - METRO
Offensive Player of the Week
Cameron Allen — William Patterson University, SO, MF
 
Allen led William Paterson to a pair of wins last week, including the NJAC conference opener against TCNJ. He drained a goal in the Pioneers’ 8-0 midweek win over Medgar Evers College, and then scored two of the team’s three goals in a 3-0 shutout of foe TCNJ.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kellen Groover — Stockton University, SR, GK
 
Groover posted two shutouts last week and  did not allow a goal in 200 minutes of play, making three stops in a scoreless double overtime draw with Arcadia. The senior added two more stops in the Ospreys’ 1-0 win over Kean in the conference opener for both squads. Groover’s efforts helped the Stockton team stretch its unbeaten streak to seven straight games, the longest streak to start a season since 2000.                                                              
 
Rookie of the Week
Sean Tunney — DeSales University, FR, D
 
Tunney helped lead the Bulldogs to two shutouts while allowing just six shots on goal over two games. In a 5-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy University, the centerback allowed the Griffins to get off just four shots, one on goal. In a 2-0 win, Tunney helped shutdown Clark Summit University, allowing just one total shot in the game. The freshman also added two goals on the week, one in each game, with his goal against Clark Summit standing as the game-winner.
 
 
DIVISION III – NORTH
Offensive Player of the Week
Ben Silvia — Curry College, SR, F
 
Silvia registered five of the six goals Curry scored in its 2-0 week. He opened the week against Framingham State with his first-career hat trick. The Colonels trailed 2-0 in that match before Silvia tallied two goals within a minute of each other to tie the game. He went on to score the game-winner in double overtime. Later in the week the senior registered both goals in Curry’s 2-1 conference win over Salve Regina University.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Mouhammed Thiam — SUNY Canton, JR, GK
 
Thiam made seven saves as he recorded his second and third clean sheets of the season in a 2-0 week for the Roos. The junior made four saves in a 2-0 road win at SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday and followed that up with three saves in a 3-0 home win against SUNY Delhi on Sunday.
 
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Offensive Player of the Week
Chase Vilga — Pennsylvania State University-Harrisburg, SR, M/F
 
Vilga tallied four goals and three assists in a 2-1 week for the Lions. The senior opened the week with a two-goal, two-assist performance in a win over Clarks Summit University, before notching a goal and an assist in a triumph over Penn State Berks. The midfielder/forward then closed out the week with the Lions' lone goal in a 2-1 victory over Elizabethtown College. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Bryan See — Johns Hopkins University, SR, GK
 
See led Johns Hopkins to a 2-0 week last week with wins over York and eighth-ranked Haverford. He made three saves and allowed just one goal in the Blue Jays come from behind win over the Spartans. The senior followed that with a pair of saves in Hopkins' shutout of Haverford. It was the first time the Fords had been shutout since October 22, 2016.       
 
Rookie of the Week
JP Bobak — Franciscan University, FR, MF
 
Bobak had another outstanding week for the Barons. The freshman scored a pair of goals and handed out an assist in two games, and  also had seven shots this week.
