ECAC Announces Women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week for Week Ending Sept. 10

DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women's Cross Country Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 10.

Division II
Runner of the Week
Victoria Thaler - Caldwell University, SR

Thaler took top spot at the Jefferson Metro Classic with a 6K time of 20:41 to lead the Cougars to a seventh-place finish.

Rookie of the Week
Meredith Morse-Gannon University, FR

Morse led Gannon to a third-place finish last Saturday at the Bethany Invitational, finishing the 6k course in 24:42 to finish 11th out of 142 runners. The freshman was Gannon's top runner, beating the next Gannon runner by three seconds. Morse was competing in the first 6K race of her collegiate career.

DIVISION III - Metro
Runner of the Week
Erin MacDonell - St Joseph's College (LI), SR

MacDonnell paced the 109-runner field at the Purchase College Invitational, completing the 6,000-meter loop in a time of 23:48.79.

Rookie of the Week
Meagan Haviland - St Joseph's College (LI), FR

Haviland placed seventh out of 109 runners at the Purchase College Invitational, completing the race in a time of 25:27.23.

DIVISION III - North
Runner of the Week
Katherine Cook - Bates College, SR

Cook led the way for the Bobcats in a 78-32 victory over Colby in the Bates-Colby Class Races. She posted a time of 16:53 over the 2.84-mile course.

Rookie of the Week
Elise Symon-Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, FR

In the 8-team Ron Stonitsch Invitational hosted by Vassar, Symon finished eighth overall and fourth on the team to help the Engineers to a team victory. She ran the 5K course in 19:43.0, a 6:20.7 pace. She was the second freshman to finish in the race, which had 98 competitors. Rensselaer won with 33 points, which was 47 points in front of the Brewers, the runner-up.

DIVISION III - SOUTH
Runner of the Week
Kelly Winklbauer - Stevenson University, JR

Winklbauer captured a first-place finish for the individual title at the Mustangs' Shannon Henretty Invitational. Winklbauer won the 6K race in a time of 23:37.97. The junior's time was nearly 19 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher from Messiah. It is the second-straight Shannon Henretty Invitational title for Winklbauer, running nearly two minutes faster than her winning time in 2016. She led the Mustangs to a runner-up team finish.

Rookie of the Week
Gianna Pugliano-Waynesburg University, FR

Pugliano led a young group of Waynesburg women at Saturday's Bethany Invitational. She placed 32nd out of 142 runners at the six-kilometer event with a time of 25:54.
