ECAC Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week for Week Ending Dec. 10
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending Dec. 10.
DIVISION II
Player of the Week
Sharell Sanders, Sr., G, Caldwell University
Sanders, the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, averaged 18 points, 7.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 4.5 steals in a 2-0 week for Caldwell University. The senior shot 51.9% from the field for the week. She tallied 20 points, five assists and four steals in a win over Queens College before posting a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists along with four rebounds and five steals in a CACC victory over Bloomfield College.
Rookie of the Week
Emma Oas – Fr., G, Gannon University
Oas came in off the bench and produced a rebound and two assists for the Knights at East Stroudsburg University. The freshman played six impactful minutes, although Gannon would fall to East Stroudsburg University 64-59 in their lone game of the week.
DIVISION III – Metro
Player of the Week
Kendrea Williams – So., G-F, FDU-Florham
Williams was the catalyst in a pair of non-conference wins averaging 31.5 points, two rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. The sophomore finished the week shooting 44-percent (22-of-55) from the field, 40-percent (16-of-40) from behind the arc and totaled 63 points. In a win over neighboring Drew University, Williams set the school-record with nine 3-pointers. She finished the game with 36 points on 12-of-25 shooting from the floor and 9-of-20 from long range. In just 31 minutes of action in a win over Centenary University, the sophomore totaled 27 points on 40-percent shooting, including seven more 3-pointers. She added three steals and two assists for the win.
Rookie of the Week
Chanel Jemmott – Fr., F, Brooklyn College
In a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs, Jemmott averaged a double-double, boasting
marks of 13.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She tallied 22 points
and 13 boards and added two steals in a 69-55 victory over Lehman College, and contributed four points and eight rebounds in 55-46 victory over New York University.
DIVISION III – North
Player of the Week
Emily Irwin – Jr., G, Curry College
Irwin averaged a double-double this week as she helped Curry go 2-0. She averaged 26.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 8.0 steals per game while shooting 42.9 percent (18-for-42) from the field. The junior opened the week with a 24-point, seven-rebound conference victory over Gordon College. She also had three assists and seven steals in the game. Irwin followed that up with a season-high 28 points against Fitchburg State University where she also had 15 rebounds for a double-double.
Rookie of the Week
Antanasia Chambers – FR., G, SUNY Canton
Chambers averaged 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game as the Roos split a pair of games this week. The freshman scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half as Canton overcame an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Morrisville State College by a score of 67-59. She also finished with a game-high four steals and added seven rebounds and two assists in the victory. In a road loss to Misericordia University, Chambers posted a team-high 13 points.
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Player of the Week
Danielle Parker – Jr., F, Washington & Jefferson College
Parker averaged 20.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals during a 2-0 week for the Presidents. She registered 16-points and 16-rebounds for a double-double in a 51-48 victory at Carnegie Mellon University before scoring a game-high 25 points in a win over Grove City College. Parker shot 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the floor and was 4-for-5 from three-point range.
Rookie of the Week
Carlee Kilgus – Fr., G, Saint Vincent College
Carlee Kilgus averaged 7.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 24.7 minutes per game last week for Saint Vincent College. Against La Roche College, she finished with 15 points, three rebounds and three assists in the 86-69 victory. In a 77-65 loss to Carnegie Mellon University, Kilgus recorded four points, as well as a block and a steal. To conclude the week in a 87-53 victory over Geneva College, Kilgus recorded two points with a block and a steal in 19 minutes of action.
