ECAC Announces Division I Women's Volleyball All-ECAC

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2017 Division I Volleyball All-ECAC Team.
 
Julia Cast from St. John’s University takes home Offensive Player of the Year and Syracuse University’s Belle Sand received the honor of Defensive Player of the Year. Alli Lowe of Colgate University was named Rookie of the Year, while Linda Sagnelli from Central Connecticut State University won Coach of the Year.

Cast had a big year for the Red Storm. In 30 matches she had 426 kills, averaging 4.06 kills per set in 105 sets played. She also tallied 37 digs and scored 449 points for an average of 4.28 points per set. She ranked second in the Big East Conference in both kills and points.

Sand takes home Defensive Player of the Year after a strong season for the Orange. The libero recorded 72 assists in 92 sets played and totaled 396 digs, which led the team for an average of 4.3 digs per set and ranked her second in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Alli Lowe was named Rookie of the Year following a strong freshman season for Colgate. The outside hitter recorded 382 kills, totaled 401.5 points and had 56 digs. The Patriot League Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Patriot League selection led the team and ranked second in the league with 3.82 kills per set. She was also a four time Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

Coach Sagnelli was named Coach of the Year after a 19-8 season with the Blue Devils. The 19 wins were the most for the program since 2013 as she led Central Connecticut State University to a share of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Regular season title, its first since 2003. The team also qualified for the NEC tournament for the 14th time in 15 seasons.
